For dishes with chicken, fish, or beef, use this straightforward yet wonderful teriyaki sauce. I can be used as a dip for shrimp or dumplings, and I’ll give stir-fried noodles or rice a Japanese taste.

Great flavor for some zing I added szechuan spicy sauce from House of Tsang
Tasted the sauce before adding the cornstarch and it was really lacking. Added some fresh ginger, more brown sugar and a couple of other little things and it was better, though not great – then added the cornstarch slurry and it’s HORRIBLE! Cornstarch is waaaaaay too much – muddies up the flavor and is too thick. I’m on the lookout for a better recipe…
Same as below, very bland. I added 1 tbspsweet Chilli, and 1 tbsp white vinegar. Much better
Garbage. Made it as instructed, was bland water.
My 5 year old loves itttttttt!!!! That says a lot. We made teriyaki salmon bites with rice and corn he wound up mixing it all together and asking for more!!
My family won’t let me buy store-bought anymore! I just mix it up and cook it in the pan with my stir-fry at the add sauce phase and I cook and stir it in my pan until thickened and bubbly, then I mix it all in. It works well that way. If making a dipping sauce, I would cook it first.
It is a small portion and VERY thick. After the 5-7 minutes of cooking it, I whisked in 1/2c (60ml, or 4oz) of water. It is now pourable, not gloppy. The taste is excellent. I didn’t make any changes.
I’ve tried many teriyaki sauce recipes so Im pretty confident in saing this. I followed the recipe exactly and this doesn’t even resemble the taste of teriyaki sauce at all, this recipe should be removed from this website.
Since I don’t have mirin, i think this recipe do the trick! My husband and I love this recipe. I hope you know that teriyaki sauce is more to a sweet side NOT ACIDIC side. So, idk why people add vinegar ♀️ also, season it as it goes. I only use 3tbsp brown sugar and 1tsp of honey. I don’t thicken it cause I want to keep the sauce in the fridge.
This has way too much cornstarch that it made it inedible. I followed the recipe precisely, didn’t subtract, add, or substitute anything, and cooked an additional ~7 min after adding the cornstarch like it said. Flavor is pretty good–basic teriyaki flavor. Anyone trying this might add the cornstarch slurry just a little at a time and simmer it for much longer.
I don’t write bad reviews but I do agree that this did taste like watered down soy sauce that was thickened however as a base it is ok. You need more brown sugar and even a bit of molasses if you have it. More ginger the addition of rice vinegar or mirin and a few drops of toasted sesame oil if you have it. All to taste for liking. I added a squeeze of katsup as some recipes use it.
It was a little on the sweet side so I added a little bit more soy sauce. I also added a little bit more of the garlic and ginger as well. Not bad! Pretty quick and my husband liked it as well.
It was absolutely delicious!!
Amazing recipe. The whole family loved it!
This is basically just thick soy sauce. No flavor, no zing of acid of any kind, not nearly enough sweetness. It needs more sugar and some kind of rice vinegar or something.
This was gross. It was not very tasty and had a weird texture due to the amount of cornstarch in it. Do not recommend.
simple quick to do except I did not have ginger in the house so I will do with out for now
Add more honey and sugar if u like this sweet
Didn’t add honey but this was still delicious! First time I made it right. You can adjust the soy or the sugar to find what you consider that perfect teriyaki.
Great recipe for a time crunch! I appreciate the nutrition label but it doesn’t list the size of a serving. Can you let me know?
All i needed plus the cool perks from others thanks everyone
