Not bad. It’s missing something though.
Really good… my go to for family fish fry!
Super simple and the last minute add to dinner worked out perfectly. I made some slight modifications that were DELISH (relish= Dill, mustard= Dijon, added capers).
Unfortunately this recipe did not work out at all. It tasted like nothing but mayo. I ended up adding lots more relish, more mustard, chopped up pickles, pickle juice, and tons of fresh dill. It tasted great with all of these additions, after sitting for a few hours, but I had to use the comments section to see people’s suggestions and try to save it. I would recommend using a different recipe or be prepared to really taste test and adjust significantly. Only good things from this recipe was the ideas of the initial ingredients, it just needed significantly more of everything +others.
What a wonderful tartar sauce! I made it tonight for dinner! My dad loved it! I did sprinkle a little sugar to reduce the dill pickle tartness. But just a sprinkle is all you need to tone down acidity too! Normally I would have gherkin pickles as mentioned but I ran out today serving my dad’s lunch. But why buy a tartar sauce when you can make this.
Added pickles & relish, whorstershire & yellow mustard. 1hr in fridge. Great w/herbed shrimp & beer battered cod. Yum
I think I have tried it before. It’s simple and delicious. I called it “TinaHo”made.. that used to be my nickname.. lol
I didn’t have lemon juice. But I did use pickled juice. It came out great. Thanks
This is a great recipe for tartar sauce, tastes better than store bought and costs so little to make! Definitely will be my only tartar sauce I use from now on!
Added dried minced onions.
Just excellent,so easy and the ingredients are a staple if you like relish and we do.
Nice mild flavor and easy to tweak to your personal preferences. I honestly don’t like the tartar sauce I’ve been served. This was an excellent base with mild flavors. It was easy to start smaller and add a little of this n that until it was perfect for me. So simple. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome taste and simple to make.
This is not tartar sauce, to me tartar sauce is equal parts of mayo, dill relish & finely chopped red onion. Try it and you’ll see.
I used dill pickles, added celery seed and so I could still have a slight dill flavor but with a little sweetness added a tiny bit of bread and butter juice.
I added a bit more relish our family enjoyed it. Tasted great!
It’s tartar sauce! 2 minutes to prep up.
I acrually only used what I had access to in my kitchen and garden – (garden – DILL, KItchen – lemon, brown mustard, and maqnaise, and it was very good. I think that goess to show you can use what works and appeal to you and that’s great.,…..
I don’t buy tartar sauce any more – Why, when I can make this simple sauce in 3 minutes. 4 – if I count opening and closing the fridge for the ingredients…
It’s a sauce, but it’s not tartar sauce.
I had really cheap fish sticks in the oven and all I had was ketchup. I wanted something different. I found this recipe and had all the ingredients. It took me two minutes to make it and it worked and tasted great for my needs! Thanks!
