Old-Fashioned Cranberry Relish

This dish has been a family favorite at every holiday meal since my great-grandfather brought it here from Austria!

Ingredients

  1. 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
  2. 2 navel oranges, peel and white pitch completely removed
  3. ⅔ cup chopped walnuts
  4. 1 cup granulated sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon orange-flavored liqueur (such as Cointreau®)

Instructions

  1. Finely chop about half the cranberries with 1 orange in a food processor; scrape into a glass mixing bowl. Repeat process with remaining cranberries and orange.
  2. Finely chop walnuts in the food processor; add to cranberry mixture. Stir sugar and orange-flavored liqueur through the cranberry mixture.
  3. Cover bowl with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 4 hours to overnight.
