This delicious pimento cheese with jalapenos can be used to flavor grilled cheese sandwiches, as a dip for crackers, or as a side dish with your preferred fried green tomatoes.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup white sugar
  2. ½ cup orange juice
  3. ¼ cup triple sec
  4. ¼ cup water
  5. 12 ounces fresh cranberries, rinsed
  6. ½ cup chopped walnuts, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Stir sugar, orange juice, triple sec, and water together in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves; add cranberries and cook until the berries begin to pop, about 10 minutes.
  2. Pour cranberry sauce into a serving bowl; stir nuts into the sauce. Let sauce cool until thickened, 15 to 20 minutes.

8.9.18 I’ve been working on cleaning out my freezer and ran across a bag of cranberries I’d bought on sale after the Holidays. We’re not into super sweet food these days, and cranberry sauce often is, so I reduced the sugar by 50% and then substituted Truvia®. Even after seven months in the freezer, these cranberries had good flavor that was accented by the OJ and the Triple Sec. Those two ingredients really style up a basic cranberry sauce. Growing up, my family only had cranberry sauce during the traditional Holiday season, but we like it so much, I serve it as a side dish throughout the year. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

This is really good! I changed it just a bit- used only cranberries, orange juice and walnuts….so good!
