Hot Buttered Rum Sauce

I created this dish with things I already had since I was sick of plain old chicken. According to some, you can’t go wrong with mashed potatoes with garlic, cranberry relish, and a sizable salad. Enjoy !!

Ingredients

  1. 6 tablespoons butter
  2. 1 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
  3. ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
  4. 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  5. ½ teaspoon rum-flavored extract

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; add brown sugar, cream, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in rum extract. Cool slightly before serving.
