Grandma’s Tartar Sauce

An excellent way to change up your standard pumpkin soup. It has a mildly spicy kick but not too much. Everyone here loves it a lot. Serve with fresh bread and take pleasure in.

Ingredients

  1. 4 hard-boiled egg yolks
  2. 3 large Egg, yolk, raw, fresh
  3. ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  4. 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  5. 2 tablespoons sour cream
  6. 1 teaspoon lemon juice, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Press hard-boiled egg yolks through a fine mesh sieve into a porcelain bowl. Add raw egg yolks and whisk until fluffy and creamy. Add oil, 1 tablespoon at a time, whisking constantly until consistency is like mayonnaise. Whisk in mustard, sour cream, and lemon juice.
  2. This recipe contains raw egg. We recommend that pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and the infirm do not consume raw egg.

When I think tartar sauce, I do no think roast but fish. With that being said, I made this exactly as written and it was just ok. Good basic sauce but not great with fish or what I can imagine would be good with beef. More of an adult dipping sauce for chicken nuggets. Loved the idea of all the egg but not one I would make again for fish OR beef.
