Cranberry Sauce with Walnuts

I prefer this fresh cranberry sauce over bottled cranberry sauce over the holidays. Even those who don’t generally like cranberry sauce adore this recipe.

Ingredients

  1. 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries
  2. 2 cups orange juice
  3. 2 cups white sugar
  4. 2 oranges, zested
  5. 1 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, and orange zest in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Stir in walnuts. Refrigerate 8 hours to overnight before serving.

10.29.20 Cut back the sugar a bit (personal taste) and sub’d Splenda® to try to reduce the calories and carbs. This had just the right amount of sweet-tart for us, the OJ flavor lingered in the background, and I liked that little crunch from the walnuts. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
