When I am hosting, one of my favorite finger appetizers is devils on horseback, and when they are stuffed with blue cheese, they are simply the greatest. When pitting, be careful not to completely cut the date.

Reviews
This recipe definitely deserves a review! Per the suggestions of previous reviewers, I increased the caramel to 24 pieces, which was perfect! The caramels took a while to melt on my stove, but the finished product was worth the wait! This was the last dish I prepared, based on the suggestion to serve immediately. However, it held up really well. I also soaked apple slices in salt water, before rinsing and refrigerating, so they too held up. Guests were still snacking on it over after dinner drinks. This is definitely a “keeper” and will become a “go to” for fall!
I give it a 5 star rating because it is genius and tastes great. The initial flavor is spot on for carmel apples, but I found as the taste lingers the sourness of the cream cheese came thru too strong. As other reviewers mentioned, I’ll up the carmel and add a little vanilla. The microwave option was awesome.
So, I made this because I had some creamy caramel dip left over (from aldi – you get in produce section near caramel apples.) I used 2/3 of a cup of the dip and 1/2 t vanilla with the cream cheese & brown sugar. It’s delish! Normally I don’t alter a recipe the first time I try it, but just thought I’d share in case anyone was looking for a short cut or also had leftover caramel dip to use up! Serving with apples, grapes and cinnamon graham cracker sticks at a shower.
Absolutely DELICIOUS! This caramel dip was the hit of the party! Will make this again and again!

I added vanilla and peanut butter. It was best dip ever with my apples.
Love this recipe! I sprinkle Health English Toffee Bits on the top of the dip when I serve it, adds a crunch and guests love it!!
Fantastic & easy!
fairly good as long as you use craft carmels
LOVE THIS!! Used it in my caramel apple bar and it was so popular! I made a double batch and had the little bit of leftovers the next day after pulling it out of the refrigerator the next day – it was perfect! Will definitely make it again!
This was the absolute worst! I was hesitant about cream cheese to begin with but this was awful. The cream cheese did not break up properly and made the caramel chunky and not in a good way. Cream cheese has no business in caramel apple dip. I am not sure if I was doing this wrong or trying to use it for the wrong thing but whatever the case I did not get good results and the taste was not good. 🙁 I will keep hunting.
Very good when served and finished immediately but if it sits it becomes more caramel than dip.
Great 5 star Carmel Dip recipe!!! Loved it, didn’t change a thing!
I used Caramel topping to taste.

Love it’s simplicity and flavor. Great snack to cure those sweet cravings.
Absolutely splendid!!! Tried it with gala apples at first and it was much to sweet. Switched to Fuji and Granny Smith apples and couldn’t get enough. My kids and I absolutely enjoyed this. It will definitely be made regularly. Thanks so much.
Made as written and it turned out great!
Dip was good but really can’t take as carry in because even though I put lemon juice and water on the apples they turned dark. Was hardly touched.
Delicious dip!
I absolutely loved this recipe. I found the Kraft Caramel Bits which is wonderful. No unwrapping caramels forever. For those using these I called Kraft and was told 1 cups of bits = 25 caramels. When I added just 1 cup of the caramel bits it was very watery. I feared it would not firm up so since I love caramel anyway I added the whole bag. I put it in the fridge since we wasn’t eating until the next couple days. It is a little thick but still good consistency for dipping. I love this dip!! The cream cheese gave it a richer taste. It certainly was hit!!
