Blackberry Compote Sauce

You won’t need to look any farther for a delicious vegan and gluten-free chocolate cake. Berry or other fresh fruit can be used to decorate the finished cake, if desired.

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup water
  2. 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  3. 1 cup blackberries
  4. 2 tablespoons stevia sugar substitute (such as Truvia®)
  5. ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  6. ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix together water and cornstarch in a small bowl; set aside.
  2. Place blackberries in a small pot and sprinkle with sweetener and cinnamon. Add cornstarch mixture and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring constantly, until desired thickness is reached, 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and stir.
