It’s good but it’s basically a bourbon bbq sauce with no sugar. And it doesn’t have enough vinegar to be shelf stable, so people who are thinking about canning it, please be safe and don’t. It’s refrigerator safe. If you want to can something like this check out the ball website. Sweet and smoky bbq sauce. It’s very similar.
I don’t even eat steak sauce normally, but this one is delicious. Last year we saw this show and THIS YEAR THIS IS WHAT WE ARE GIVING AS CHRISTMAS GIFTS. Love everything. A very classy gift.
Great flavor – my changes for next time making will be to use my immersion blender to keep the onion and garlic in the sauce (taking out the bay leaf) – it only filled 4 small jars – so will also double the recipe so I will have more jars to give away. Thanks Damaris for a great addition to my Christmas giveaways!
Absolutely delicious! I don’t even like steak sauce that much, but this stuff is amazing! I am a little confused as to why it would only last 2 weeks when all the ingredients in it would last much longer than that. Truly delicious though. Not too sweet, very tangy and would go well with any meat. I followed this exactly *except* instead of sorghum (which I couldn’t find) I used honey and 1 tablespoon of molasses. Turned out just perfect!

does this need to be canned?
I am super excited to include this in my holiday gift baskets this year. It was hard to find the recipe but totally worth the search.
Please post pictures of your recipes, Thx!!
