Ingredients
- 1 (12 ounce) package broccoli coleslaw mix
- ½ cup sunflower seeds
- ½ cup slivered almonds
- 1 (3 ounce) package Oriental-flavored ramen noodles, broken into small pieces
- ½ cup canola oil
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup white wine vinegar
- 4 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Combine broccoli coleslaw mix, sunflower seeds, almonds, and ramen noodles together in a bowl. Whisk canola oil, sugar, ramen noodle seasoning packet, and vinegar together in a separate bowl; pour over slaw mixture. Fold in green onions. Chill in refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours before serving.

This looks like a recipe I made 20 years ago and loved it so wanted to try again. Today, I used sesame oil and rice wine vinegar to give it a little more Asian flavor. I also added a splash of soy sauce. Delicious!
So Delicious that I was asked for the recipe by a guest. I did not have seeds or nuts on hand, so I added a handful of peanuts and used shrimp flavor ramen because the stores were out of oriental flavor.
I’m only giving it 4 stars because I didn’t make exactly as written. I didn’t have the Ramen so I used the suggestion about substitution for the seasoning packet another reviewer added. I was going to add some chow mein noodles at serving time but decided with the seeds and almonds it was crunchy enough. The flavor developments much better the following day, ate it 2 days in a row. Great flavor and crunch, will be a regular!

I love this salad. I used two noodles packages instead of one and used rice vinegar. I also substituted pepitas for almonds.

Really good I followed the directions of another review to add the seasoning instead of packet. I substituted 2 T of honey for sugar and added 1/2 can of mandarin oranges. Perfect recipe.
I love this ,but I mix liquid ingredients together and bring to A boil for a bit till sugar and everything is dissolved, pour over greens and let sit in fridge, good today but better tomorrow
Definitely will make again. I was missing many things so just used cabbage, not broccoli, red onion, not green onions, whole toasted almonds, not slivers, etc. The base flavor lends itself nicely to modification.
Made this a second time and only changed two things: used the broccoli slaw mix from Kroger (it did not have the kale and Brussels sprouts) and toasted the almonds. This made a huge difference! Loved it more the second time!

Loved this salad! I think next time I’ll try rice wine vinegar and sesame oil to change it up to have more Asian flavor. Also, I could not find broccoli slaw at my grocery store so I bought organic broccoli and carrots and shredded them in my food processor. A bit more work than packaged but you know what’s in it. Now if I could figure out how to reduce the calorie content, I’d make this every week!

This has become a regular salad in our home. We like it with white balsamic vinegar and with apple cider vinegar too.
