Used soft margarine instead of butter. Added walnuts. Very tasty–the spices really perk it up over other banana bread recipes.
I added allspice and have added a bit of ginger and cardamom in the past, but my wife complained it was too spicy. I found it rose very well and was moist if I took it out at 35 minutes.
The best banana bread ever
Super moist and super delicious! Made it exactly as is – it’s a keeper!
Love! I used brown sugar since the recipe doesn’t specify the type of sugar to use. I like extra spice, so I increased the quantities and then baked it in muffin tins. The family loves it! I’ve been searching for a banana bread recipe for years, and none of them were quite right. I think this is “the one.”
Delicious recipe I’ve made before. I used 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar this time. Also added 1/2 cup nestles chocolate chips… wow!
I have made this recipe for years, today I tried something new, I used brown sugar and rum flavoring instead of vanilla. It was stellar! Jane Reynolds
Excellent !! I subbed banana flav for van. and tweaked the spices. Wonderful.
So good ! I only used brown sugar and added some chocolate chips to it . Also put abit less cloves because i don’t usually love the taste Couldn’t find my bread pan so made muffins and still so moist and perfect – cooked for about 30-35 mins
This is amazing!! Great flavor and texture. I baked it in a Bundt pan for the recommended time. I also found a maple glaze recipe and drizzled that over the top and then over the slices after I put it on a serving platter. Very fall inspiring and tasty!
It’s still baking, but judging from the taste of the batter, it will be delicious! I added just a little more cinnamon and slightly less clove, and I added pecans. Can’t wait to have a warm slice fresh from the oven.
Easy and came out great! I accidentally misread the amount of nutmeg and put in 1/2 tsp. instead of 1/4. It was perfect. I actually hate plain banana bread and have always made banana spice bread. I couldn’t find my recipe box and found this one. This will be my go-to from now on! My husband kept wanting more — I had to hide it!!!
A little spicy for my family. Think it was the cloves. But moist
Added one Granny Smith apple diced – yum!
Great base recipe! I did opt to add a 1/2 cup of toasted walnuts. Reduced cloves to 1/8 tsp and added 1/8 tsp cardamom. Used a 50/50 mix of brown sugar and regular sugar
it is now my favorite spiced Banana Bread recipe
I actually made it but ommitted the Butter and sugar!
I halved the recipe and put it in two (ceramic) dishes to bake, so it only took 25 minutes. I also added a splash of water to the batter because it seemed dry. And added mini semi-sweet chocolate morsels (bc why not?) Was delicious with these changes
Good recipe. I made a change or two. Brown sugar instead of white sugar and added blueberries to it. My husband loves the blueberries added. Very moist and tasty.
Great recipe. Don’t need to change a thing
This is a great recipe! I’m not one to do exact measuring and it was perfect. I used 1/2 coconut flour and 1/2 unbleached white bread flour and it was perfect. A very good basic, moist, bread.
