This Hatch chile dish is consistently delicious. For many years, I’ve been preparing green chili.

Love this as an occasional dinner in our menu rotation. I use a half package of hot dogs cut into thirds, for a total of a dozen. I make these in my Instant Pot using the egg bite pan. I tried baking them in the egg bite pan and it was not successful, so I’ll be back to the Instant Pot next time.
I halved the recipe and used a regular sized muffin tin. With 5 hot dogs, it made 10 muffins. I put the hot dog pieces right in the sprayed cups, then spooned the batter over them and added a little shredded cheddar. I reduced the oven to 350 and it took about 18-20 minutes (I kept checking on them after the first 15 minutes). My kids loved them!
These are BOMB. They were a huge hit at the Super Bowl party I brought them to last year!
I really love this recipe! I would make this again. There was more cornbread than a hot dog so I would just put less batter. Over all this tasted great!
Made it and served with chili – great and I am sure the kids will love them.
These were tasty. We cut the hot dogs smaller so they would fit into the muffin tins — only to find later that the original poster meant for us to cut the hot dogs into pea sized bits, which we will definitely do next time. We will also use about half the sugar next time.
I don’t have a mini muffin pan, so I used a regular size muffin pan. I cut the recipe in half and that made 8 muffins. They are delicious and I would compare these to a kolache, as a breakfast item, rather than corn dogs, which sound like something I wouldn’t eat. I really enjoyed having them as an alternative to more healthy muffins that I make all the time. It’s a great 1 dish breakfast item.
Made this recipe and it was alright but tasted dry. I’ve always made them by dicing up my hotdogs, placing them in the bottom of a sprayed muffin pan, mixing up a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin mix( I live 35 Mike’s from the Chelsea Milling Company that makes it) with 1/4 cup of shredded yellow cheese. They’re quite good but if you use mini muffin cups they make cute “dippers” with mustard, ketchup or barbecue sauce.
These are really good! Dipped in mustard-yummm! The only thing I will change next time is to cut the dogs up smaller, more dog less batter with each one.
Made this for my kids and used a 9×13 pan instead of the muffin cups. Worked great and clean up was a breeze. My kids loved it after their initial response of “Is that hotdog pie?!” We had a good laugh and they gobbled it up.
I used a basic corn muffin and added grilled hot dogs and sharp cheddar cheese. Delicious!!
I made it with skim milk. Worked fine! I didn’t have the time to use muffin pans so I used a sprayed 8 X 12 ceramic dish instead. Baked it for about 35-40 mins. I wanted a more golden crust on top. Check with toothpick to make sure it’s baked through. I used 5 of the longer hot dogs because that was all I had in the freezer. I cut them into 1/2 inch slices but they kept falling out of the finished product. Next time, I will cut up into smaller pieces so they incorporate better. This tasted great! Will make again.
I didn’t want corndogs but i did want the cornbread so i cut the hotdog out of the equation and had some of this best cornbread ever.
I used all of these ingredients — I just upgraded them a bit. Unbleached flour, unprocessed cane sugar, organic milk, cage-free eggs, etc. They’re quite good — though they weren’t as good as leftovers. So if you make ’em, eat ’em all while they’re hot and fresh.
I made these muffins. But I used jiffy corn bread mix. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough hot dogs in there. But I like the idea and will try it again using the regular recipe and adding more hot dogs. The jiffy is too tender and they were falling apart. But still good with mustard.
These always turn out so yummy. My family eats these up. I followed the recipe and made no changes. Great recipe and so simple to make.
I made it exactly as written. They were good but too sweet for my taste. I will definitely make again, but with less sugar.
They were very dry even after dipping in ketchup and mustard. My 4 year old just picked the hot dog pieces out. I liked the idea but wouldn’t make again.
Delicious. I cut up the hot dogs like the original poster said but put it into a regular muffin pan. The ones with more hot dogs tasted better. The recipe made 14 and I had to bake a little while longer. People said they tasted better than Pogos. I will definitely make these again.
It was okay, kids loved it though. Cutting up the hot dog was better than have a whole piece.
Kids are tired of sandwiches and wraps in their school lunches, so when I saw this recipe I couldn’t wait to surprise them with it. I really thought these would be a hit. They were not. One said they were ‘ok’, the other said they were not and he threw them away. I tried them myself before sending in their lunches, so I know I made them correctly, baked them perfectly, and they were fine (for hot dogs). Just nothing special.
