Ingredients
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
- 4 center-cut boneless pork chops – 1/2-inch thick
- 2 teaspoons canola oil, or as needed
- salt to taste
- 1 large sweet onion, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
- Mix honey, soy sauce, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper in a bowl. Pour about 2 tablespoons of the honey-soy mixture into a small bowl and save for later. Brush chops with canola oil on both sides, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
- Grill the chops on the hottest part of the grill until lightly charred and crusty, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Move the chops to a cooler area of the grill, and continue to cook, brushing both sides generously with the honey-soy glaze, until chops are no longer pink inside, about 3 to 4 more minutes. The juices should run clear, and an instant-read meat thermometer inserted into the center of a chop should read at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).
- While chops are grilling, brush slices of onion with oil, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Grill onion slices until they are translucent and browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. To serve, place chops and onions on warmed plates, and brush the chops with the reserved honey-soy glaze.
- To make this kid-friendly, omit the crushed red pepper flakes.

I was so excited about making this but it turned out terrible. Honestly, I think the mistake I made was not cooking it in a cast-iron skillet. The pan was completely charred as well as the meat on the first side I cooked it on once it began to simmer. The other side of the meat seemed to not have ended up charred due to the heavy barrier of charring stuck to the bottom of the pan. I had to make sure to keep making sure the meat wasn’t sticking to the pan anymore as it was the first time around once the simmering began. My kitchen was filled with a burnt smell which embarrassed me even though I was alone. This was an epic failure to say the least. If you don’t have a grill, bypass this recipe and just opt for a recipe that’s made to be cooked on the stovetop.
Loved this. Cooked in skillet and sautéed onions separately and served the pork chops over them. Delicious!!
Very easy dish to make. I prepared in a cast iron pan, however. I prepared the ingredients in the same proportions as indicated in the recipe. Will add this to the rotation.
It is just pork chops with a mediocre glaze. I am not likely to use this recipe again.
Yummy! I will definitely make it again
Excellent recipe! journalists, pork turns dry during cooking. but not this recipe! loved the flavor. Made NO CHANGES, and it was delicious!
Instead I cooked over stove until a bit of color appeared then baked in oven and poured mixture on top.
high in sodium but it’s very good.i would recommend it. I cut down on the soy and honey a bit when I made it, but still a very good flavorful meal.
We liked the combination of honey and low sodium soy and have made this a couple of times. I am looking forward to using this glaze with chicken too! I did have to add a splash or two more of soy sauce but would highly recommend this recipe. First time we cooked in oven and it was good but second time on grill was definitely better as the sauce was able to carmelize and really soak in.
Made it exactly as written. Easy and good.
This is another great recipe of using soy sauce, some sweetener and some spice. This combination of any three ingredients is a winner in my book. The family loved it as well. Definitely I would make this again.
So have tried this meal twice and love it.
The only thing I did differently was to cook in a large skillet. This was so easy and so tasty! My family loved it, so I will definitely make it again. Thanks for sharing it here!
Loved it. It gave a nice twist to the plain of fashion pork chop.
The flavor was great!!
This is good. I’ve made it a few times. It’s easy enough because we typically have ingredients on hand. I enjoy the recipe as is. My suggestions: make sure your chops are proper thickness and use propane grill if you can. Despite oiling the grates, it’s still very sticky. The glaze is very yummy and would work well on chicken or homemade jerky too ??
I used 1” thick center cut chops and did a reverse sear in the pan w/ 30 minutes @ 400 degrees in the oven. Amazing!
I made it exactly as the recipe called for but it tasted like something was missing. If I make it again I will definitely add some garlic, chopped green onions, and more pepper.
I halved the recipe for four chops only, no onion. it was very tasty, even my daughter loved it!
The kids really liked it. It was quick and easy to make . A great meal to make after working all day.
I just need to make sure it doesn’t caramelize too much. I’ll try adding a teaspoon of lime next time.
