Pan-Fried Pork Chops

Excellent on those sweltering summer days!

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. 4 boneless pork chops, 3/4-inch thick
  2. salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  3. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  4. ½ cup cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Do not pat chops dry, so seasonings and flour will stick.
  2. Season both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with flour on both sides. Use the back of a spoon to distribute the flour over the entire surface.
  3. Heat oil in a 12-inch non-stick skillet over medium heat until it shimmers. Carefully add pork chops and pan fry until brown, about 4 minutes. Do not disturb the chops until ready to turn.
  4. When you see the edges of the chops turn brown, turn, and pan fry the other side until no longer pink on the inside and brown on the outside, an additional 4 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 145 degrees F (63 degrees C). Reduce heat, if they are browning too quickly. Serve warm.
  5. You can season the pork chops the way your family likes them the best! Garlic salt, onion salt, or any seasoned salt may be used, if desired. Dried herbs may be added to the flour, for extra flavor.
  6. Thicker chops will take longer to cook, thinner chops will take less time. Use a meat thermometer and do not overcook.

Tasty! I took advice from others and notes in recipe and added seasoning to the flour. I added both garlic and onion powder. My pork chops were about 1/2 inch and took about 3 extra minutes per side for some reason. It was nice with some crust on outside from flour and tender inside

Delicious! Sometimes you just want a fried pork chop. An easy simple recipe to make. Per other reviews, I added garlic powder and onion powder to the flour before frying. Thanks Bibi!

This is how my mom taught me to fry pork chops. Not made as often due to less fried food is better, when I do make it, it is yummy. Sometimes I add garlic powder to the flour, salt and pepper shake. An air fryer might be healthier, so I’ll try that when I break down and buy one…

Simple recipe to follow- chops were moist and delicious. Used a “Steak and Chop” blend of spices. Yum! Our chops were thicker (1 inch) so just added a couple minutes per side and used a meat thermometer! Perfect!

Why add flour?? Totally unnecessary, must pat chops dry for them to brown evenly. Pat dry, drizzle a small amount of olive oil or any oil you prefer. Then season with S&P, add garlic powder after turning them so it doesn’t burn. Cook on high to brown then reduce heat to medium high for about 2 minutes, turn, repeat. Don’t forget the garlic, powder not salt!
