My husband’s favorite ham recipe!

Definitely recommend. I did a smaller ham so I just followed the cooking instructions it came with on the spiral ham, so I did a 9lb for 2 hours. I kept basting in between every 30min-1hour. It came out absolutely delicious. I also couldn’t find these cherries so I used regular cherries at my super market. I also used lemon juice in a 4.5oz bottle instead of recommended on recipe. Also used minced instead of whole cloves. Would do this recipe again. Came out great.

Used the changes in Mimi’s review, fabulous and easy peasy. mimi 02/25/2009 This is almost the exact recipe I use for my Easter and Christmas Ham. I decorate the ham the exact way as called for in this recipe. I use 2 cups brown sugar Preferably dark brown, Enough of the pineapple juice to make a wet sand consistancy, I add about a 1/4 cup of yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, and pour over ham then pour the rest of pineapple juice in pan and seal it with foil. I bake at 325 for 2 hours completely covered and then for about 15 minutes at 400 degrees, I baste with the juices from the bottom of pan every 5 minutes. If you completely seal the ham in the beginning, you will never have dried up juices. This is for an 8 lb or so ham. For a 12 lb ham, I would bake sealed for about 3 or 4 hours sealed and then the same for the last 15 minutes. I also thicken the juices at the end with a flour and water mix. My ham and sweet gravy has always been the talk of the dinner. My granddaughter always requests it during the holidays.

This has been one of our family holiday meals since forever!…..Along the way, I’ve tweaked it a little….I’ve substituted the lemon line soda for flavored sparkling water, which has less sugar and calories, use the flavor of your choice, I go with pineapple or mango…the added brown sugar has more than enough sugar along with the heavy syrup from the can of pineapples…..but all in all the flavor is great and the ham always comes out juicy….As Mikey says…. “Try it, you ‘ll

Delicious, melts in your mouth. My very first ham. I used a bit more pineapple juice to ladle over ham to keep it moist and covered ham loosely with foil.
