Ham Loaf

  5.0 – 6 reviews  • Brown Sugar

This fish goes really well with the garlic aioli sauce. Serve with baked bass, deep-fried cod, or grilled salmon; there are many other dishes that it goes well with. Extra-virgin olive oils are best, but you may also try olive oils from Italy, France, or Greece to change up the flavor. Never keep something for longer than a few hours.

Yield: 2 ham loaves

Ingredients

  1. 2 ½ pounds ground ham
  2. ½ pound ground pork
  3. ½ onion, chopped
  4. 2 cups rolled oats
  5. 2 eggs
  6. 2 ½ tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  7. 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  8. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  9. 1 ½ cups evaporated milk
  10. 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  11. ¼ cup cider vinegar
  12. ¾ cup mayonnaise
  13. ¼ cup sour cream
  14. 5 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  15. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  16. salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Combine the ground ham, ground pork, onion, oats, eggs, parsley, ground mustard, pepper, and evaporated milk in a large bowl. Mix well. Form in to 2 loaves; place into 9×13 inch baking pans.
  3. Bake loaves in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Stir the brown sugar and vinegar together in a small saucepan; boil for 1 minute. Remove loaves from oven, and pour brown sugar mixture over. Return loaves to oven; baste frequently with the pan juices until browned and cooked through, 30 to 45 minutes longer.
  4. Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve sauce over sliced ham loaf.

I have never had ham loaf before and I thought this was delicious. The horseradish saved this from being too sweet.. was a nice layer of flavor in this. Will make this again.. great idea for Christmas ham leftovers
