- 1 cup soy sauce
- ½ cup water
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons dried rosemary, crushed
- 4 boneless pork chops
Instructions
- Whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and rosemary in a bowl and pour 1/2 of the marinade into a resealable plastic bag. Add pork chops, coat with marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Set remaining marinade aside.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat, and lightly oil the grate. Remove pork chops from marinade, and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
- Place pork chops on the grill and cook until pork is no longer pink in the center, brushing occasionally with reserved marinade, 4 to 5 minutes on each side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).

It was good, but the amount of brown sugar was excessive. I halved the recipe for two pork chops and used 1 T of brown sugar rather than 3 and it ended up sweet enough. Next time I will use fresh rosemary when it’s in season here. The pork chops were moist and tender and didn’t take long to cook. I used low sodium soy sauce to reduce the saltiness.
These were amazing! Uses a lot of soy sauce but because they are submerged in liquid while marinating, they come out very flavorful. I marinated a little less than 3 hours and didn’t use any of the extra liquid to baste them. Just grilled 4 minutes each side and they were done! Will definitely be making these again!
It was delicious! Did the exact recipe except used fresh rosemary. Didn’t remember to take a picture, husband was hungry! He really liked it too!
Delicious. No reason to set aside half of the marinade though. Just need a few tablespoons to brush on the pork chops while cooking them.
The marinate was great. I did add a little thyme, just because thyme always goes well with pork. Used the marinate as a glaze and then reduced what was left for a dandy sauce. Had some locally raised, and butchered thigh cut chops, and the flavors complimented the pork perfectly and the glaze sealed in the juices.
I rated this before making it, because it looked easy and good snd I wanted to make this point: I would think that anyone who didn’t read through the whole thing would be somewhat frustrated when they got to step 3 and were supposed to brush with the marinade that they discarded in step 2.
Wow! Big hit with my family. I cooked them on a griddle over the stove instead of the grill and they were fantastic
Delicious!! I am in love with them. I added fresh Rosemary, two fresh garlic cloves and less sugar and less soy. Perfect. My daughter does not eat pork and ate every piece.
Good. Get thicker cuts so that it can stay juicier in the middle.
Might want to add some additional brown sugar to the remaining marinade and reduce it down to have more or a sauce for basting. If you can, use fresh rosemary and bruise it before putting in the marinade.
A lovely blend of flavors from the marinade, this easy recipe will be a mainstay for the BBQ. Delicious
This was good. I think thicker pork chops would have made a difference.
A little too salty. I recommend using low sodium soy sauce.
Made this for dinner tonight and the hubby loved it. Like others, I added garlic and served with roasted veggies. He loved it!! I would have even tossed the veggies in the glaze but definitely will next time.
I love this recipe and have been using it for years. However, the calorie count is totally off. A half pound (bone-in) pork chop is about 500 calories.
Love this recipe! It was easy to make and tasted fantastic. Any concern I had about the soy sauce flavor overwhelming the dish vanished with the first taste. I added minced garlic. Will make this again. It is what we refer to at my house as “guest ready” — a winner!
I did not make any changes. It was a wonderful recipe no need to change what.works so well. My husband loved.it too!
I gave this a 4 because I revised the recipe a little bit. I would have given it a 5 otherwise. I used a thick bone-in pork chop, made a pocket and stuffed it w/fresh rosemary, sage and basil. I added sliced fresh ginger and fresh garlic to the marinade. Husband says it was “outstanding.”
I had 2 chops and I actually 1/4tered the recipe. Agave syrup instead of sugar. 1:1 ratio. Excellent!
easy and tasty. I even marinated for only 45mins and taste great! served it with potato broccoli salad with lemon dressing
This was easy to make. I followed the recipe except the rosemary as I only had 1 tbsp left. It still turned out well. My picky eaters (5yo and 4 yo) loved it. I’ll make this again. Thanks!
