Grilled Ham

This recipe was given to me by my boyfriend’s sister. It is so simple to accomplish and extremely great. Spend some time getting ready and lots of time having fun! You could also use candied walnuts as a garnish.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 2 hrs 30 mins
Additional Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 3 hrs 10 mins
Servings: 15

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup brown sugar
  2. ¼ cup yellow mustard
  3. 1 (9 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Mix brown sugar and mustard together in a bowl until a paste forms.
  2. Place ham onto a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Spread brown sugar paste over entire ham. Wrap foil securely around ham, sealing all of the edges together. Place wrapped ham into a disposable grill pan.
  3. Grill ham on the preheated grill until heated through, about 2 1/2 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C). Remove ham from the grill and let rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  4. You can also bake this in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes per pound. I recommend using a disposable pan because the paste may leak while cooking and will begin to burn.

Absolutely fabulous. Grilled it on the Traeger for 2hrs (~5-6lb). The flavor was amazing!

Fantastic. My picky father-in-law said that it was the best ham he’s ever had. It was flavorful, super moist and super tender. By the amount of juice left in the foil, you would have guessed that there was none in the ham, but there was loads. I cooked at 325 for about 3 hours instead of 350 for 2 1/2. At this point, my ham was about 130 degrees inside. Not as warm as I’d like, but I think that was due to the high sided pan that I used. I then opened up the foil and cooked for another 30 minutes to give the ham a brown and to raise the internal temp, which it did. I removed from heat and closed the foil back up and let it set for 15 or 20 minutes. Fantastic and easy. I definitely will use this technique again.

I used half of a pre-cut ham and this was good. Not the prettiest of hams but good. I recommend letting it sit for 10 minutes or so. When I took the picture it was bright pink but turned a nice golden brown once it sat.

Add 1tsp pumpkin spice if you want a little more flavor
