This was absolutely delicious. I used the cloves, brown sugar and maple syrup on top. I did add a can of pineapple with the juice which added to the flavor. I cooked it covered at 350 and checked it after 1 1/2 hrs and it was already done so just kept it warm after that. Will definately make again.
I made this recipe as is, except I used a pre-cooked ham, and it was fantastic. The cloves and brown sugar added such depth of flavor to the ham. The brown sugar helped to seal in the juices as well. This recipe is a keeper.
No, i followed the recipe completely. I find it interactive that so many skipped the cloves. Theyr’e such a unique flavor. I find it amusing that people would give it a review after they never followed the recipes. Hammmm. I thought it was really flavorful and juicy.
I put ham cutside down on rack with cloves & sliced pineapple rings with cherry in middle held on by toothpicks with not as much sugar
After everyone pushes away from the table I chill the ham left over. Next day I use a food grinder and grind up the ham for ham salad. Add sweet pickle and your favorite mayo and bang. Sandwiches for the next day. This is what my family looks for.
We had a 6lb smoked ham; the ham was rinsed off & placed in a roaster, cut side down – scored & 8 cloves placed in the ham – brown sugar was rubbed over the top – maple syrup was moderately poured over top & 1 inch of water poured in the bottom of the roaster. In the oven for 2.5 hours @ 350f
Sorry. It’s almost impossible to ruin a pre-cooked ham but you did. Horribly dry and over cooked in the picture. Should use another. After now reading the instructions, I see what happened. 4 1/2- 5 hours??? No more than 2 – 2 1/2 hours. I use a glaze made up of the pineapple juice from the canned pineapple and the juice from the marachino cherries combined with brown sugar. YUMMY! GL PS- Note to all those that left out the cloves. Ur missing out on something. Have all the ingredients before you try something. smh
I had a 4 pound precooked ham that I cooked for 2 hours. I used brown sugar, sugarfree orange marmalade and pineapple juice for the glaze. I had never used cloves before and only used them on the top. I also put sliced pineapple on the top. I rarely eat ham, but this tasted juicy.
My ham turned out fantastic even though I skipped the cloves as I had none. The ham was moist and with just a hint of sweetness. Perfect!
Perfect Ham! Love this a go to recipe for us. Thanks
Great recipe! I used a 5.5lb ham, and it only took about 2.5 hours in the oven and came out delicious! I also discovered a bit late that I didn’t have either whole or ground cloves, so I substituted with whole allspice. It worked out really well!
The ham itself came out really nice, but I discovered I am really not a fan of the cloves. Too much “perfume” if that makes any sense. I prefer to baste the ham with a brown sugar/pineapple juice mix towards the end of the cooking process along with placing sliced pineapple on the top.
Super easy and yummy! Used a smoked ham so cooking time was half. Added pineapple juice and orange juice as others suggested. Will make again!
Everyone loved it. And, it was very easy to make
Made it for my family on New Year’s Day. Everyone loved it.
Wow. This was my first time cooking a ham and it was wonderful. I left out the cloves because I don’t like them.
I only used sea salt, ground pepper (no cloves). Covered the ham in honey & powered it with brown sugar.
Time Not good for pre cooked ham. Reduce time. Delicious great reviews among friends. Used pineapple aswell as cloves.
I made this with two 20+ lbs hams for a assisted living housing thanksgiving dinner. everyone loved it and it was the first thing they ran out of.
I added pineapple. It was delicious.
Husband reports best ham he’s ever had
