A quick and simple strawberry pie with a layer of sweetened cream cheese for a little something extra. If desired, top with whipped cream.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 45 mins
Total Time: 1 hr
Servings: 18
Yield: 18 3-inch tarts

Ingredients

  1. 18 (3 inch) unbaked tart shells
  2. 7 tablespoons brown sugar
  3. 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  4. 1 teaspoon pear-flavored white balsamic vinegar
  5. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  6. 3 large ripe d’Anjou pears – peeled, cored, and diced
  7. 3 tablespoons chopped almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place tart shells on a baking sheet.
  2. Stir brown sugar, melted butter, balsamic vinegar, and cinnamon together in a bowl; stir in pears and chopped almonds until completely coated. Spoon pear mixture into tart shells.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 45 minutes.
  4. If you want to up the decadence, toss some extra chopped almonds in simmering butter and brown sugar until they get nice and syrupy, then add them on top of the tarts for the final 10 minutes of baking, and then once out of the oven drizzle with chocolate!
  5. I used grass-fed butter, fair-trade sugar, and organic pears.
