Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr
Active: 20 min
Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

  1. 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, broken into pieces
  2. 3/4 cup heavy cream
  3. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  4. One 7-ounce container marshmallow cream
  5. 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, at room temperature
  6. 2 cups heavy cream
  7. 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  8. 1 store-bought pumpkin pie
  9. Seasonal chocolate lollipops, for decorating

Instructions

  1. For the ganache: Put the chocolate in a bowl. Heat the cream in a saucepan over medium heat until hot. Add the vanilla. Pour over the chocolate pieces and mix until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is combined.
  2. For the marshmallow whipped cream: In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the marshmallow cream and butter until combined, about 30 seconds.
  3. In a mixer fitted with whisk attachment, whisk the cream in a separate mixer bowl until frothy. Lower the speed and gradually add the powdered sugar. When added, increase the speed and whisk until stiff peaks form. Add the marshmallow and butter mixture to the cream and whisk until smooth.
  4. For the pie: Pour the ganache over the pumpkin layer. Let set at room temperature for 40 minutes or flash-chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  5. Pile the marshmallow whipped cream over the ganache in a high-domed mound–scale is everything. Insert seasonal chocolate lollipops in the marshmallow whipped cream.

Can I prepare the pie the night before

This and her pecan pie is what I made for thanksgiving! This one is great but I think next time I make it, I will only do whip cream and not add the marshmallow as it made it very sweet. I think with heavy cream it should be just fine.

Made this today and it turned out perfect. Made one for home and one to take to the family for thanksgiving. And to the anonymous review with only one star, if you read the ingredient list it says to use a store bought pie. The recipe is for the ganache and marshmallow topping.

My son proclaimed this “the best pumpkin pie ever”.  For me, the cream topping is a bit too much but on my piece I just kind of take some off and put it on the rest of the pie lol.  But that’s just me lol.  Was definitely a hit and will make again for sure.  Great way to dress up a store bought pie.

My family fell in love with this pie!
