Homemade Pie Crust

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  2. Dash of salt
  3. 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  4. 1/2 cup ice water

Instructions

  1. Place the flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Add the shortening and cut it in with a pastry blender, or use your hands, as I do. Add the water, a tablespoon at a time, kneading until the dough is smooth. Roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan.

I was actually able to fill 3 9 inch pie pans with this crust and that was a big help for Thanksgiving

This was a very easy pie crust to make and it was very good. I’ve never been able to make a good homemade crust, but this was GREAT!!

Simple easy directions, but perhaps using butter flavored shortening or real butter would enhance this crust.
