Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons butter
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  3. 4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
  4. 1/2 medium onion, finely diced
  5. 1 pound peeled and deveined large shrimp (16/20 count)
  6. 2 lemons, halved
  7. 1/2 cup white wine
  8. 4 dashes hot sauce (I used tabasco), or more to taste
  9. Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  10. 8 ounces angel hair pasta
  11. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  12. Minced fresh parsley, for topping

Instructions

  1. Boil water for the pasta and have it ready.
  2. Melt the butter and heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and onions and cook until the onions are translucent, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the shrimp, then stir and cook for a couple of minutes. Squeeze in the lemon juice. Add the wine, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Stir and reduce the heat to low.
  3. Throw the angel hair pasta into the boiling water. Cook until just al dente. Drain, reserving a cup or 2 of the pasta water.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the pasta and toss, adding a splash of pasta water if it needs to be thinned. Taste for seasoning, adding salt and pepper if needed. Top with the grated Parmesan and minced parsley and serve immediately.

This is my go to recipe for shrimp scampi. Thin noodles are perfect for this recipe.

Thanks!

I made this recipe this evening and loved it, however I made some alterations. I didn’t add the white wine or tabasco sauce, and I traded the parsley for chives. I only used one lemon and I already had 2 tablespoons of garlic butter so I used that. It was very good and I will make it again.

After reading reviews, I doubled the sauce with only one lemon & added capers with seasoned salt for my family’s tastes. Tasted great! What I love about Ree is her fun approach to cooking with suggestions to adjust to our personal preferences. Thx Ree for keeping it casual!

Shrimp does NOT simmer! It is cooked as soon as ot is opaque. Needs less lemon, and more salt. This recipe is awful..actually.

Made this recipe did find it to be somewhat bland. I will say I did not use a lot of salt. I usually prefer to flavor my dishes with other spices other that salt. maybe if I’d gone with more salt it would of been better.

My husband and I make this often. LOVE!  Since we are diabetics we use zucchini noodles.

So delicious! So easy! Added some red pepper flakes for some added zing. Always love a dish I can pull together in less than 30 minutes!!

Made this tonight, 12-28-2021, and I can say this is wonderful. My wife likes lemon flavor, but not a ton or over bearing, so I backed the lemon off to 1, and it was still amazing. Served it with some baguettes!! Great dinner and worth making!

This dish was excellent. I didn’t have angel hair pasta, so I substituted linguine and I added a few red pepper flakes. My husband raved.
