Don’t let the ridiculously short ingredient list fool you — this pasta is incredibly flavorful and oh-so-comforting. That, and the fact that you can throw it together in about 20 minutes just might make it your new favorite weeknight meal.

Ingredients
- Kosher salt
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon very coarse freshly ground black pepper, plus more for serving
- 1 3/4 cups freshly grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package directions, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid before draining.
- Heat the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the foam from the butter subsides. Add the pepper and cook, stirring, until lightly toasted, about 1 minute. Add the pasta and up to 3/4 cup of the reserved cooking liquid, tossing to coat. Sprinkle the Parmesan on top and continue to cook, tossing, until the cheese is melted and the pasta is well coated, about 2 minutes. Add a little more of the cooking liquid to loosen, if necessary. Season with salt and divide among 4 bowls. Serve with additional Parmesan and pepper.

Simple and delicious! I ground 1T of peppercorns fresh from the spice grinder, plus used very fresh cheese. This was so good! I love pepper, but it was almost too much for me. Definitely more pepper than my hubby prefers. Next time I will use less pepper in the sauce and let people add more if they want.
This was easy, simple & most importantly tasty!! Love the spiciness of the black pepper A definite keeper in our home!
Very good, super simple!! Big hit with my wife! I did add a few minced garlic cloves right before the pepper… garlic is a must I think..
Easy and delicious. It checked off the want for “cheesy Italian pasta” without all the work.
I love this recipe! So simple and I like to add chopped up bacon and frozen peas for a little extra something. The bacon grease mixed with the olive oil and butter adds even more flavor!
Delicious, easy and super fast. A great meatless Monday dish.
Loved how easy it was to make!! I am a rookie in the kitchen and have been trying the easier recipes. I added shrimp and we enjoyed it a lot!! There was a bit too much pepper for us, so next time I will use about half.
Easy Peesy and delicious!!!!
I make a similar Pasta. I start with sautéing finely chopped red onion until translucent then add 2 cloves of garlic. Then add cooked pasta, butter and Parmesiano reggiano.
Incredibly simple but packs a lot of flavor. My family loves it. Made this recipe multiple times and it be gets old. A Good Friday night dinner.
