Everything bagel seasoning may seem like an unusual addition, yet it strangely unites the entire dish. You might, however, substitute sesame seeds.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  1. 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant ramen noodles (exclude seasoning packet)
  2. 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  3. 1 clove garlic, minced
  4. ¼ teaspoon red chili flakes
  5. 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  6. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  7. ¼ cup reserved pasta water
  8. 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  9. 2 teaspoons everything bagel seasoning
  10. green onions, thinly sliced (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook ramen in boiling water to al dente following package directions. Drain and reserve ¼ cup of the water.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until golden and fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in chili flakes, brown sugar, and soy sauce and simmer for 1 minute. Add noodles and a bit of ramen cooking water and toss to combine.
  3. Push noodles to the side and crack egg into the skillet. Cook, stirring gently, until nearly set, then toss with the pasta and any additional water, if desired, to thin sauce.
  4. Transfer to a bowl and garnish with everything bagel seasoning and green onions, if using.

Okay, so about everything went wrong, but that’s on me. I think it’s really weird texture-wise. I had better ramen before, and I’ve had worse. Don’t even know if my rating counts or not, but I didn’t think it was the best. It was okay.

So easy and fast to make. My husband liked it because the red chili really added to this dish. I liked it because it was a simple and different from regular ramen noodles. As suggested from other reviews, I only added 1 teaspoon of everything bagel seasoning.

After simmering the chili flakes, brown sugar, and soy sauce, I pushed it to the side in the skillet, added the egg, and scrambled it before adding the ramen and water. Be sure to save some of the pasta water because you will need it to get the proper consistency. I definitely could see making this more substantial just by adding some veggies and maybe some cooked chicken or pork. Surprisingly, the Everything Bagel Seasoning was tasty on this, but I just used a sprinkle, not 2 teaspoons. I’ve never lost my taste for ramen, and I’d make this again for sure!

I followed this recipe to the T and it turned out fantastic! I loved the addition of everything bagel seasoning! Delish!

Good staple recipe – I am egg-free, so left out that part and instead served with crispy tofu. So, my review is more about the sauce which came together very quickly and was delicious!

I would recommend doubling this recipe. I added chicken to mine also very yummy. Easy to make.

I keep stumbling across this TikTok recipe and decided to finally try it. NOTE: the recipe doesn’t really specify, but TikTok ramen has scrambled eggs in it, not a carbonara-type egg sauce, so you’re going to want to lightly stir the egg until almost set, then stir into the noodles to finish cooking. I was a little skeptical of the Everything Bagel seasoning but it works, even though it’s not a traditional ingredient. I do have to point out that 2 teaspoons is a lot of seasoning; I used 1 and that was plenty. Make sure your noodles are still on the firm side after boiling, otherwise they will get too mushy once tossed with the rest of the ingredients. A simple weeknight meal and I loved the added protein from the egg. Don’t forget the green onions! A nice twist on ramen.

I have never eaten ramen, so I didn’t have experience to draw from when judging this recipe. I made this single serving for my lunch and loved it. In fact, my husband ended up eating half of it. We both really enjoyed the sweet and spicy flavor. I’ll double the recipe next time!

I can see the value of this recipe as a quick dinner, upscaled a bit from a cheap dinner of quick ramen noodles, but I did not love it. The method for adding egg and pasta water to make a carbonara sauce of sorts, or to at least get the brown sugar/soy sauce/chili flakes sauce to stick to the noodles, was not correct and didn’t work well. The everything-bagel seasoning did not match the sauce — recommend only using roasted sesame seeds instead of trying to layer another flavor. I won’t be making this again, although as I mentioned earlier, I understand what the recipe developer was trying to do. Stick with the regular ramen, add some miso, dashinomoto, soysauce to the broth and break an egg into it to poach, maybe add a bit of fresh baby spinach and you’ll have a exponentially better upscaled quick-ramen meal.

A simple and DELICIOUS alternative to the ‘usually ramen that we all know and love! Made exactly as written. Definitely recommend adding the optional green onions at the end for an extra something The kids loved it too, so that makes this a definite keeper-yum! Thanks for sharing

What a fun recipe to take boring instant ramen to the next level that comes together quickly! I put the butter and garlic in a pan on low while the water for my ramen boiled. I boiled my ramen for 3 minutes, but next time might only do 2 minutes since the noodles do cook more in the pan later on in the recipe. While the ramen cooked I added in the sugar, soy, and red pepper to the pan speeding up how quickly the recipe comes together. I scrambled the egg on the side of the pan but next time might mix the runny egg in with the noodles to have less large egg chunks. The flavor was great though! I didn’t have green onion but imagine that would add some freshness. My only complaint is now I need a recipe for the leftover ramen flavor packet since I hate throwing useful things out. Nevertheless I would definitely make this again, yum!

Family loved it and was really quick and easy to make. I added mushrooms and sliced almonds for crunch. Next time I will double the recipe as we all wanted more.
