Sesame-Garlic Ramen Noodles

  5.0 – 1 reviews  • Ramen Noodle Recipes

The majority of ramen containers include a seasoning packet that is high in sodium. With this recipe, feel free to dispense with the packet. Although you may certainly add your preferred protein and vegetables, the basic merely emphasizes the ramen noodles.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  1. 1 (3.5 ounce) package ramen noodles (flavor packet discarded)
  2. 1 ¼ cups water, divided
  3. 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  4. 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  5. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  6. ½ teaspoon Sriracha sauce, or to taste
  7. 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
  8. 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  9. 1 pinch toasted sesame seeds
  10. 1 pinch black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Add water minus 2 tablespoons to a saute pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook ramen in the boiling water until softened, about 3 minutes.
  2. Keep water at a simmer, using tongs to carefully flip noodles over. Noodles should be soft and come apart fairly easily.
  3. Once water has nearly evaporated, add sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add reserved 2 tablespoons water, Sriracha, and hoisin sauce; mix well with noodles. Serve immediately topped with red pepper flakes, toasted sesame seeds, and black sesame seeds.
  4. Nutrition for this recipe includes the ramen flavor packet. The actual levels for sodium, etc. are much lower.

This is FANTASTIC and super easy to make. I’ll add one more shortcut; don’t measure the water. Just cook and when it gets to your desired doneness – when you drain, reserve some of the pasta water and add back in step 3. I didn’t have black sesame seeds so omitted and I just went grocery shopping so added some minced green onions at the end. Would love to get a protein in here; possible rotisserie chicken or sautéd shrimp. I also liked the heat….but would need to tame down a pinch if made for my husband. Thanks thedailygourmet!! Great ramen!
