a mouthwatering entrée or side dish made with beef, basil, and loads of cheese. Italian sausage can be added in place of the meat, or you can add both. If preferred, accompany with warm, crusty bread and a green salad.

I’ve made this multiple times and it has always turned out great.

No way this fits into a 2 qt casserole. Use you 9 x 13. I added 3 cloves chopped garlic with onion. Delish.

Winner! Have made this recipe so many times…..I first discovered it when a friend made it for Grandparent’s day to serve to all of the visiting grandparents in the elementary school. I have since used it to feed guests at funeral luncheons, an anniversary party and countless meal deliveries to those in need of a meal. I was told to mix the sour cream into the pasta before layering, and I have never veered from that piece of advice. It is creamy and cheesy. My personal preference for sauce is Prego Traditional. Enjoy!

We thought it was delicious. I swapped out the ground beef for spicy Italian sausage and prepared it in 2 small pans so I could freeze one for later.

I added garlic & Italian seasoning and it was still pretty bland

Good enough to save and make again. Recipes rating will depend on what pre-made sauce you choose. So, dont pick the cheapest kind.

Kids loved it which is a win win for me. My family doesn’t like ricotta so the sour cream is a good alternative. Definitely need a bigger casserole dish though. 3 qt would be best.

Loved it! I added Italian seasoning to the sauce. I used fresh mozzarella and added sliced havarti. It was extra cheesy and my family loved it.

I love this recipe! I used the recommendations of other reviewers and tossed the ziti with ricotta cheese (& egg). I also used shredded Italian blend cheese with shredded mozzarella cheese as well as provolone cheese. My family loved it! ThNks for sharing this recipe

2nd time around with this. Unfortunately I had to sub Rigatoni this time, Ziti s is my favorite macaroni. Like before the few slices of cheese lookeds so pathetic, so I used 23 slices of cheese instead of the 12 designated in the recipe. Taking the advice of tossing the pasta in some of the sour cream is a great idea. A hit in my home.

I added bell peppers, asparagus, and diced tomatoes!

My family loved it. I took the advice if another reader and tossed the ziti in the sour cream before layering. I also used 1 pound of ground beef and 1 pound of hot Italian sausage for the meat and added minced garlic into the sauce. Little changes, it was wonderful! I’ll definitely make this again.

sour cream doesn’t add anything IMHO. needs salt. will not make again

I chose this recipe for my teenager to make…simple ingredients, foolproof, guaranteed to turn out. even if you accidentally used too much cheese if you like things spicier substitute Italian sausage or add more seasoning.

This is a really great recipe. The only thing I changed was I added one jar of sauce to the ground beef and onions and then one jar to the cooked ziti. Very tasty!

Very good recipe. Easy and tasty. There was no way it was going to fit in a 2 quart dish. Grab your 3 quart and you’re all set.

All 3 of us loved it, including my toddler! I took the notes about mixing the sour cream with the noodles and added oregano and garlic and will definitely be making it again!

This recipe was almost perfect! I tossed the pasta in the sour cream like others suggested. I was skeptical about using sour cream at all but it did not disappoint. only thing I would change next time would be more parmesan between the layers, or even tossed with the pasta as well. It just needed that little bit of extra taste.
