Our dog’s favorite treats are made with this recipe for dog biscuits. You can replace the cornmeal with more flour or oats if your dog is allergic to corn. Good appetite!

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornmeal
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 ½ cups water, or as needed
- ½ cup canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
- Mix together whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, cornmeal, and oats. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in water, oil, eggs, peanut butter, and vanilla. Mix well.
- On a flat surface, use a rolling pin to roll out the dough. Cut the dough into dog biscuit shapes using a cookie cutter. Place the biscuits onto the prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn off the oven but let the biscuits remain inside the oven for another 20 minutes to harden.

I did as many others and only used 1/2 cup of water. My dogs love them. When I make them again, I might substitute low sodium beef or chicken broth for the water.

Read the recipe first. 1 1/2 cups of water or AS NEEDED. Go easy on the liquid a little at a time. Use your best judgment. These turned out great! Thanks.
They are dog biscuits and my dogs liked them.
The original recipe was too loose, so I cut back on the water and added the oil a little at a time. Then I put it into a bowl and refrigerated to firm the dough. About 30 minutes. This recipe is trial and error.
Easy to make. My modifications: used dog-safe broth (made with no onions or garlic). After making the “original” recipe, I also made a batch of chicken biscuits where I used about 1/2 of a shredded boiled chicken breast and then used the water from boiling the chicken in my recipe. I also followed the advice of other posters and kept my liquid at about 1/2 a cup. Pups enjoyed these for sure.
I followed this recipe with the exception of adding a little more peanut butter than called for. Probably about a 1/4 cup. I am going to guess that the type of peanut butter used could change the amount of water needed. The dogs loved them!
My daughter made these for Christamas gifts for her friends dogs. You definitely need to reduce the amount of water. She used 1/2 cup instead of 1 1/2 cups and they came out great. Our dog loves them.
Way too much water. Didn’t read all the reviews beforehand. Big mess. Had to add cup or more of flour and cup of oats to absorb the 1 cup of water I used thinking I could add more “as needed”. Added 1/4 c peanut butter too to make sure it stick well. Also there’s no instructions on how thick to make. I baked 25 minutes 350 degrees as I had so much dough due to the water mishap. Of course pretty easy to please dogs. With added dry ingredients and less water, was able to make Christmas shaped treats for neighbors dogs
I don’t seem to be able to follow directions, so: I didn’t have cornmeal after all so I used extra oats. I used almost expired baby food and milk, no water. I have used yogurt in other DT recipes. If peanut butter isn’t chunky then it isn’t peanut butter. I added 4 T local honey. The 3 dogs in my house haven’t complained about them yet
My dogs LOVE these cookies. They were easy & quick to make and I found I could drop & press rather than roll & cut, which I prefer. I needed only about 3/4C liquid.

Made these for our goddaughter’s doggo. He loves them even when I cut them into simple rectangles. Measurements generally accurate when I mixed them, might have been more oatmeal, and it took 3/4 cup of water, but the dog didn’t complain!
1 1/2 cups of water is way too much. 1/2 cup is all that was required for me.

I just st want to give a heads up. Last time I made home made doggie treats, I kept them in a container as I would do with any dog treats. I discovered that they should be refrigerated because they do not contain preservatives. ( They grew fur after only about a week)??
