Ingredients

  1. Salt, for glass rims
  2. 1/3 cup orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
  3. 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  4. 3/4 cup tequila
  5. 4 ounces seedless watermelon, small diced
  6. 1 lime

Instructions

  1. Pour salt in a shallow dish for dipping the rims of the glasses. Dip 4 martini glasses in water and then dip the rims in salt. Place in the freezer to frost, about 30 minutes. Fill the bottom of each glass with the diced watermelon and pour alcohol mixture over the top, dividing evenly among the glasses. Slice lime into wedges and squeeze into glasses. Serve immediately.

If there was a rating lower than 1-star that is what I would give this NASTY TASTING RECIPE. Did anyone actually REVIEW the ingredient list before posting it? There seems to be something seriously missing. We followed the recipe EXACTLY (measurements, etc) and it had to be the worst drink ever.

Not all margaritas are the watered-down version of an authentic Mexican treat at your local Chili’s. These were strong, good, and made the perfect drink for our backyard party. Our tip is to use a very ripe melon and ball it only when ready to use. That preserves the rich flavor of the melon.

Oops…. perhaps I should have read chef’s method. My review below was for blended watermelon margartias, in a blender. Actually merely placing the watermelon cubes into the glass is the problem here. Sounds awful without even trying it! LOL

Way too boozy and not enough watermelon flavor.

The alcohol was expensive, the taste was way to strong, it did not taste like a “margarita”, the watermelon (which was beautifully ripe) was overpowered by the alcohol. I wished I had listened to the first review, so now you have two, beware!

These were too strong, and I should have realized based on the ingredients. Was more like a martini than a margarita.
