Level: | Easy |
Yield: | 4 servings |
Ingredients
- 4 cups (3/4-inch) diced red watermelon
- 6 ounces good vodka, such as Grey Goose
- 3 ounces Cointreau or Triple Sec liqueur
- 2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice (2 limes)
- 4 large mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Place the watermelon in a food mill fitted with the largest disc set over a medium bowl and process. The food mill will separate the seeds and the pulp from the juice; you should have about two cups of juice. Pour into a pitcher and discard the seeds and pulp. Stir in the vodka, Cointreau, and lime juice.
- Fill a cocktail shaker half-full with ice, pour in the cocktail mixture, and shake it for a full 30 seconds. Pour into chilled martini glasses and garnish each glass with a sprig of mint. Serve ice cold.

This was delicious! I used a food processor and blended the watermelon in batches so it didn’t overflow. Then strained in a colander. Also, doubled the recipe, made the whole mix about 2 hours ahead and put in a pitcher in the fridge-good timesaver. When guests arrived shook with ice and served up-everyone loved!
Absolutely perfect. I found others that used a watermelon flavored vodka or a house sour mix to be too sweet. This was simple and delicious. Instead of a food mill I used a juicer and followed the recipe exactly.
This is so good! I put my watermelon in a food processor and then strain it and it’s perfect. I like using Gran Marnier. Depending on the sweetness of the watermelon, you may need a touch of simple syrup. A perfect summer cocktail 🙂
yummy drink, so summery. I used about a quarter of a watermelon to get the two cups of juice. Very refreshing and cooling. So easy to make after food milling the watermelon. It is still worth it. YUM.
I just made this after watching the new series last night. Since I don’t have a nice deep freezer for chilling glasses, I filled mine with ice and water to chill before pouring. Came out beautifully, although my food mill seems to not like watermelon much and let some seeds fall through. Leftover pulp, I just squeezed by hand to get the most juice. Just bought a fresh mint plant, so perfect timing! I do need a much larger shaker for these measurements 😉
I’ve made this twice since the show aired! It’s the drink of the summer!
Wonderful and refreshing cocktail recipe. Cheers to Ina!
