Just made this for a Holiday Open House for 75 people. I multiplied the numbers by 5 and put it in a large pot on the stove and it all worked beautifully. I would just say that it didn’t seem very alcoholic after heating and re-heating though. I think next time I would add everything BUT the Jack Daniels to the pot, get the cider and spices totally steamed up, pour it into the cups and add a shot of Jack into the cup at the last minute. This way, the alcohol doesn’t burn off. In any case, I did it as directed and it was delicious – everyone loved it. I think they just didn’t get much of a buzz from it. So that’s either good or bad, depending on your party. 🙂
Great & easy to make. Would use this recipe again.
Jack daniels is a perfect sub, my family loves it, so they wouldn`t complain anyway! I also put in the whole fruit, It was perfect !!!!
I made this recipe with 3 minor changes. I used a whole lemon and a whole orange, cut them in half and squeezed the juice in, then threw both into the mix. I also used Jack Daniel’s (I didn’t have any brandy, oops. Other than that everything else was the same.
The drink came out VERY good. Be forewarned, however; after boiling for 3 minutes, there was still plenty of alcohol left in the drink. It may have been my imagination, but the closer I got to the bottom of the mug, the stronger it seemed to get. Thank you, Mr. Tony.

This recipe is fabulous! I made it last year for Christmas Eve and my whole family loved it! I made it again for New Year’s. It is my only hot toddy recipe i use. Thanks to the Neely’s.
My mom, a good friend and I made these Hot Toddy’s to drink while making holiday goodies. We kept it in a crockpot to keep it warm and last throughout our baking. I don’t know if it was this awesome drink, but every single thing we made came out perfectly delicious… rich and creamy Rocky Road Fudge, decadent Peppermint Bark, unbelievable Cranberry Macadamia Cookies dipped in white chocolate and the best ever Canoli. I am sure the Hot Toddy’s will have to be a part of the tradition, just in case they were the reason everything came out utterly perfect! Thanks Food Network!
This was awesome, most times drinking hot toddys are for the sick.
If that’s the only time to have one then you might want to be sick for this treat.
