Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces gin, preferably Hayman’s Old Tom brand
- 1 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth, preferably Carpano Antica Formula brand
- Maraschino liqueur, preferably Luxardo brand
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Ice cubes
- 1 amarena cherry, for garnish
Instructions
- In a cocktail pitcher, combine gin, sweet vermouth, a bar-spoon’s worth of maraschino liqueur, and orange bitters (Orta uses 3 light dashes instead of 2 heavy dashes). Fill the pitcher with ice cubes. Place the cocktail spoon down the side of the pitcher; then run the spoon around the edge of the pitcher quickly but gently to stir, about 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe or martini glass. Garnish with an amarena cherry.
