Sangria Slushie

  4.7 – 13 reviews  • Frozen Drink Recipes
Consider this sangria 2.0. Your favorite Spanish beverage has gone slushy thanks to some clever homemade red wine ice cubes and a blender. It’s your new favorite summertime drink — step aside daiquiris.
Level: Easy
Total: 6 hr 10 min
Active: 10 min
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. One 750-milliliter bottle fruity red wine
  2. 1/4 cup brandy
  3. 1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur, such as Triple Sec
  4. 1/4 cup superfine sugar
  5. One 10-ounce bag frozen mixed berries (about 2 1/2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Fill 2 ice cube trays with the red wine and freeze until solid, at least 6 hours and preferably overnight.
  2. Combine the brandy, orange liqueur and sugar in a small container with a lid. Refrigerate until ready to make the sangria.
  3. Combine the frozen berries, red wine ice cubes and chilled brandy mixture in a blender. Blend on high until combined, thick and slushy. Pour into a pitcher and serve.

I haven’t made this yet, but I will be making it very, very soon! My sister in law will be having friends and family to her little beach cottage for a cookout and this will be perfect! Will just have to figure out how to keep it frozen in the hot weather, although it will disappear quickly.

This was very good! I added a little orange juice to thin mine out a little.

I made this for the family and everyone loved it! I just froze all the ingredients and it was wonderful.  I did use Cointreau in place of the Triple Sec and I wouldn’t change anything else.

Fabulous!

Served these drinks last night with friends and the boys, who typically don’t like wine, devoured them with rave reviews…

Consider using Cointreau French orange liquer.  Very powerful and very good.  Improves the taste.  Also double up and just use strawberries.  Oh so good.
