Ingredients
- 2 oranges, washed and cut into 1/4-inch thick rounds
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Pinch kosher salt
- 16 ounces chilled vodka
- 5 cups chilled orange juice
- 1 cup crushed ice
Instructions
- I love what the orange peel does to this drink – it is the perfect complement to a hearty breakfast or casual brunch. If you’re serious about your cocktails, make sure all of the ingredients (even the glasses) are chilled when making this drink.
- Put the orange slices into a durable bowl and add the lemon juice and the pinch of salt. Use a wooden spoon to “bruise” the orange slices so that the oil in the peels emerges and the pulp from the orange mixes with the lemon juice. Add the vodka and continue to stir. Add the orange juice and combine well.
- Divide the ice among 8 glasses and pour in the drink mixture. Serve immediately.

I use blood oranges. You won’t be disappointed. Beautiful color.
These are FANTASTIC! So refreshing, super easy to make & they look wonderful too. You can make a batch ahead of time (just add the ice right before serving or have your guests help muddle while they mingle! Next time I’ll try making it with blood oranges!
made these last year for Easter brunch. The drink is AMAZING! I had no idea the flavor you get from muddling the oranges. The perfect brunch cocktail!
I can’t believe how yummy this is. My guests will love this little orange juice surprise today…perfect with the Cheese Fondue Hash Browns!
Not usually a “screwdriver” fan but tried this one this morning and LOVED it. Fresh and tasty. The orange peel really adds so much. I may have been converted from my bloody mary!
I have not made the recipes yet, but I am always mesmerized by Alex’s description of EVERYTHING. She makes you want to go out and buy everything to make whatever she’s making…even if it’s something you wouldn’t normally like. Please keep her show(s) on. THANK YOU!
