Ingredients

  1. 1 tablespoon chipotle chile powder
  2. 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  3. 1 lime wedge
  4. 1 1/2 ounces cognac, such as Hennessy
  5. 1 ounce frozen mango puree, such as Boiron
  6. 1 ounce Simple Syrup, recipe follows
  7. 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  8. 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix together the chipotle chile powder and sugar on a small plate. Rim a coupe glass with a lime wedge, then dip the rim in the chile/sugar mixture.
  2. Add the cognac, mango puree, Simple Syrup and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker, add large ice and shake vigorously. Taste for balance, then double-strain into the prepared coupe glass and serve.
  3. Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 month.

This is so easy to make and so delicious. It works as a great cocktail in all four seasonal. It’s refreshing as a summer drink and has a lovely warm color for cooler weather months. The flavors blend well together and no ingredient overpowers another.
