Reviews
My local store just started carrying blood oranges (from Australia) so I gave this recipe a try. I used Black Bottle Blended Scotch, Heering Cherry Liquor, Carpano Vermouth and Luxardo cherries for the garnish (there is no substitute for Luxardo that I’ve found so far.) The cocktail was very, very nice. It is sweet, but no cloying, and very well balanced. There are so many different kinds of scotch and vermouth, that I have to imagine you cocktail will taste very different from mine. I have never tried any other version of this cocktail before, so I can’t rate it based upon any comparison, however I will give this 5 *’s because the flavor is unique, robust and satisfying. It is a strong drink, so be careful. I strained the cocktail and served it in a cold glass, however you may want to serve it over a giant ice cube in your old-fashioned glass.
