Pro tip – throw a splash of green chartreuse in there. Also rim the glass with lime peel. Divine.

Love, love, love this. It has become my new favorite summer cocktail. Great use of the fresh basil I grow on my deck. I serve it on the rocks.

This is fantastic and simple to make.  I used a craft gin called Crater Lake from Bend Distillery.  Be sure to slap the basil.  And use fresh squeezed lime juice… Of course.  Garnishing with basil leaf is a nice addition.  I just served this tonight to rave reviews.

Love this drink. Had my first one in Boston a couple of weeks ago. Summer Fresh!

Delicious! It’s amazing clapping your hands with the basil leaf releases so much flavor!  I used Hendricks Gin & it was an absolute poem.

This tastes like summer! The key is to use good quality gin (I like Bombay Sapphire) and I add a few lime pieces to the muddle to give the basil something to muddle against. Garnish with a small basil leaf. I have served this numerous times and even the non-gin drinkers and skeptics raved. If you wonder what to do with the excess basil from your herb garden…well this will make you want to plant more!

I’m new to the Gimlets but I had it a great restaurant in Sacramento and now I want it all the time. My basil plant is great! I do add some cucumbers peels thinly sliced with the peeler. Perfect!
