Sriracha Honey Chicken Legs

  4.8 – 144 reviews  • Baked and Roasted

This dish for sweet and sour chicken legs with Korean-style sauce is delectable. It tastes great on grilled or baked chicken.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 50 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. 2 pounds chicken legs, skin removed
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  3. 1 ½ teaspoons ground thyme
  4. 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  5. 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  6. 1 teaspoon salt
  7. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  8. 3 tablespoons raw honey
  9. 3 tablespoons butter
  10. 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  11. 1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Combine chicken legs, olive oil, thyme, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix chicken legs until coated and arrange on the baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until an instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone reads 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), 45 to 50 minutes.
  4. Combine honey, butter, sriracha sauce, and soy sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat; cook and stir until butter is melted and sauce is smooth, about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour sauce into a large bowl. Transfer chicken from the baking sheet to the bowl using tongs; toss until coated with sauce.
  6. This isn’t quite a paleo dish because of the Sriracha, and it isn’t 100% low carb because of the honey, so I have labeled it “primal” since it’s somewhere in between.

This was excellent. I baked for 40 minutes and finished off on the grill basting with the sauce for another 10+ minutes.

Easy but really delicious.

Just made this recipe tonight. Took the advice of some of the other reviews and lowered the amount of Thyme to only 1 teaspoon instead of 1 1/2 and used b/s chicken breast that I cut into tenders. OMG this was incredible! It’s the perfect blend of sweet and spicy!

Really enjoyed the recipe! I didn’t have any honey, so I substituted agave. I also did the oven part, but after I tossed them in the bowl of sauce, I threw them on the grill and continued to baste until they were well caramelized. Super easy to make, and a crowd pleaser for sure!

Everyone I have ever made this for has loved it. Its an easy goto for me, and the bake rub is great on its own for those who cannot take the heat.

We absolutely loved this! Since 2lbs = 5 drumsticks, we fought over the last one. Wish I would have doubled and plan to next time. Everything about this recipe is spot on! From the seasoning to the bake time to the sauce. Perfectly flavored and cooked! Smells amazing while cooking. Definitely will make again! Thanks Nicole!

my son’s new favorite! I have made this every week since we discovered it and will continue, don’t think we could get sick of this: VERY tasty.

I doubled the sause and it was pretty good

It’s a tasty dish and you can tell by the recipe ahead of time. Albeit, these are not chicken “legs”. These are drumsticks aka the lower part of the leg. Chicken legs are the drum and the thigh. I used leg quarters and this was delicious.

I made a double batch and served it over brown rice. The family loved it. I would definitely make this again.

Simply delicious

I’ve made this twice now, and It’s really good. Plus it’s easy to make. I like I have another use for sriracha. I use the extra sauce with rice.

Really good! I’ll definitly make again. Not too spicy. Smells as good when it’s cooking! Family friendly.

Super delicious and flavorful. My favorites are legs and thighs … and legs are much cheaper. This recipe knocks it out of the park. I will definitely be making this again!

I used the air fryer. Also – cooked sauce on chicken (just a little). Very good served over rice.

Loved the flavor. As others had commented, I added more honey.

This was absolutely delicious! My family loved it. The only thing I changed was I “baked” the chicken on my traeger pellet grill rather than baking it. Fabulous

Followed the recipe except for a bit more sriracha and used bone in/skin on thighs on hand. This was good, easy, and I’d make again. The only thing I did wrong was to put back in the oven to stay warm and it got a little dark. My husband said he actually liked it that way, the honey got a little caramelized and the skin crispier!
James Rogers
It was very good, husband had two helpings. I added fresh chopped rosemary, after putting on the sauce put the chicken back under the broiler for another 5-10 minutes. Turned it once.
