Spicy Air Fryer Wings

This is what I came up with because I wanted a rice and pepper dish with Italian characteristics.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ pounds chicken wings and drummettes
  2. 2 teaspoons olive oil
  3. 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  4. 1 tablespoon chili powder
  5. 1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin
  6. 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  7. 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  8. 1 ½ teaspoons ground black pepper
  9. 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
  10. 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse chicken and pat dry. Place in a large bowl, drizzle with oil, and toss to coat.
  2. Combine paprika, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne in a small bowl. Sprinkle over chicken and toss until evenly covered.
  3. Preheat an air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Arrange chicken in the basket of the preheated air fryer in a single layer, not touching. Cook until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, about 12 minutes, turning halfway through. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). For crispier wings, increase temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more.
  5. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

My Sweetie and I loved it. Makes lots of seasoning and did not use it all for 1.25 lbs of wings. I also did not raise to 400 degrees for crispy wings because we wanted juicy instead. Cooked 12 minutes at 375 degrees, switching trays at 6 minutes (InstantPot Vortex), with final internal temp at 190 on a drumette. Thanks!

An excellent, but of course I left out onion and black pepper. This is very tasty and easy to prepare. Use as snack food or prepare with side veggies for a light meal. Thanks, just don’t overcook.

I made this and my husband loved it! Said they were the best wings he’s ever had. I made it exactly per the recipe. Warning: these really are spicy (a beautiful build) so you may want to reduce the cayenne if you don’t like things too hot.

My package of wings was 2 pounds and there was plenty of rub to cover all of them. Bumped the temp up to 400 for crispier wings as suggested in the directions. Cook time is spot on and these turned out pretty good. I know they are supposed to be spicy and I live for spicy food but even these were too hot for me. I will definitely make again but will reduce the cayenne next time.
