These applewood-smoked bacon, peanut butter, and sharp Cheddar cheese-topped ground sirloin burgers are the greatest around! The best hamburgers have excellent ingredients.

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 6 burgers

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef sirloin
  2. 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  3. ½ teaspoon onion powder
  4. ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  5. ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  6. ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  7. ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  8. 8 slices applewood-smoked bacon
  9. 1 ½ cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (such as Tillamook®)
  10. 1 cup peanut butter
  11. 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  12. 6 hamburger buns
  13. 6 leaves lettuce
  14. 2 tomatoes, sliced

Instructions

  1. Mix together ground beef, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl until evenly blended. Form into six (4-inch-wide) patties and place on a large plate. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until slightly firm, about 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  3. Place bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
  4. Cook patties on the preheated grill until hot and slightly pink in the center, about 4 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium doneness. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over patties about 1 minute before they are done.
  5. Mix together peanut butter and maple syrup in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat peanut butter mixture in the microwave until slightly runny, about 25 seconds. Stir until smooth.
  6. Spread peanut butter mixture over hamburger buns. Place patties, lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon on the bottoms, then cover with top buns.
  7. I use Adams peanut butter in this recipe and add maple syrup for sweetness. If using another brand, like Jiffy, use less maple syrup and perform a taste test.

Soo good…Didnt have Maple so use any jam, ect.. Super delicious!! Don’t put too much Worcestershire into the meat mixture or it could become crumbly..

not sure if it was my husbands grilling or what but they were so dry.

Astonishing. After all its just a burger but the combination of a little spiciness in the burger meat and the lightly sweetened peanut butter is just brilliant. I was skeptical but this turned out to be a favourite at the cottage. Some hints – this would be excellent as a slider. And if like me you are used to eating two burgers at a sitting, this burger will slow you down at a count of one. And finally, I recommend leaving the bacon off. I think its better without.

Awesome, the best burgers I have ever made. I leave out lettuce and tomato and add red onion, tzatziki on bun. Add Old cheddar cheese and thick sliced bacon, serve with Ale
