With this one, use caution. This drink tastes excellent to those who have never tried it and will sneak up on you before you realize it.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 4 hrs
Total Time: 4 hrs 10 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 pork shoulder (Boston butt) steaks
  2. 1 large onion, sliced
  3. 2 cups ketchup
  4. 2 cups water
  5. salt and pepper to taste
  6. 1 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Season the pork steaks on both sides with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Place in the skillet and cook until browned on each side, about 4 minutes per side.
  2. Place sliced onions on top of the steaks in the pan. Stir together the ketchup and water in a medium bowl; pour over the steaks. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and cook for about 2 hours. The longer you cook, the better the meat tastes.

Based on the reviews I took a chance on this recipe. Because, seriously, ketchup?? I am so glad I did. Really very good. Used a blade cut pork steak, bone in, about 1.25″++ thick, 1.97 #’s Followed recipe exactly. Cooked for just over 2 hours. So tender and so juicy. Husband said “we could have this again”. For him that is HIGH praise because he usually only comments if he Doesn’t like something.

9-28-20 I thought it was good. The family ate it without any complaints. I had 4 large steaks – only 3 would fit in my large countertop skillet. I used a regular skillet for the last one. I kept the original amount of sauce for the 3 (plenty) and used 1/4 sauce for the one by itself. I only used one large onion and chopped it instead of slicing into rings (family likes it better that way). It was plenty for all 4. Will most likely make again!

Seared 2 – 1 1/2 lb. pork butt steaks, did sprinkle a little BELL’ S SEASONING on them with salt and pepper to taste my choice for seasonings on pork. Cut the ketchup and water down to 2/3rds, and used a TBSP. dried chopped onion. This is how I remade it to my tastes. Original recipe was great, but I like to recreate.Like with any recipe, make it yours, after trying the original. Because someone worked to make it, so try it there way first, before you play with it.

There is no list of ingredients or a recipe! What a useless posting.

So easy, put in crock pot like many suggested. Didn’t have that much regular ketchup so used 1/2 cup of siracha ketchup too. Added a couple tablespoons of Worcester sauce. The rest I did as recipe suggested. Serve it w noodles. Hubby loved it too.

The only thing I changed was the ketchup. I cut it in half because 2 cups seemed WAYY too much. I’m glad I did because the steaks turned out great! Will make again.

I made these today with 3 of the “large pork chops” our stores featued on sale. I don’t really like Ketchup, so I used a 10 ounce can of store brand low salt Tomato soup and equal parts water, otherwise as stated. I cooked in the Crockpot low for 6 hours, amazing flavor. Simple and easy – I will be making this often.

Very tasty and kids love it! I made it in the crockpot and used 1 cup ketchup and 1 cup vegetable broth (had some leftover in the fridge) and put a few red potatoes on top.

I thought this was very good–like a comfort food. I would serve it to family but not to guests as it doesn’t look that attractive on a plate. The chops were soft and full of flavor. I fried them in an electric frying pan. I personally think that making these in a crock pot would make the sauce to thin and watery. By frying them on the stove in a frying pan or using an electric skillet, the sauce thickens as they cook and is a nice compliment over the chops themselves or to put on mashed potatoes as a side. I will use this recipe again.

I used jack miller’s bbq sauce, added some itialan dressing, lightened up the ketchup. Next time I will use less water. Delicious meal. My husband and I loved it.
