This was a completely unplanned but excellent idea! Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and guacamole on the side (if desired).

Ingredients

  1. 5 cups water
  2. 1 (12 ounce) package medium egg noodles
  3. 1 tablespoon salt
  4. 1 pound bacon, cut into 1-inch cubes
  5. ½ cup butter
  6. 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  7. 1 head cabbage, diced
  8. 1 onion, diced
  9. 1 pinch seasoning blend (such as Morton® Nature’s Seasons® Seasoning Blend), or to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine water, noodles, and salt in a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot). Push noodles down with a spoon. Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions; set timer for 1 minute. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  2. Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions for 6 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid. Set noodles aside.
  3. Set the Instant Pot to Saute function. Saute bacon on Medium until browned and crisp, 5 to 7 minutes. Do not drain grease. Add butter and stir until melted. Stir in garlic. Stir in cabbage and onion. Close and lock the lid.
  4. Select high pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions; set timer for 5 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  5. Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid. Mix in egg noodles and seasoning blend.
  6. Use whatever seasoning you prefer to taste.

I followed the instructions as they’re written. The noodles still had a significant amount of water so they were soggy. My instant pot had a burn warning so the cabbage didn’t cook and I ended up having to pan fry the meal. I’m not sure if I did something wrong but it didn’t work for me.
