I’ve tried many different marinades for chicken using my neighbors as test subjects, and this one has been hailed by everyone as just delicious, hence the title.
Prep Time: | 20 mins |
Cook Time: | 30 mins |
Total Time: | 50 mins |
Servings: | 4 |
Yield: | 8 thighs |
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic pepper
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- ¼ cup canola oil
- 8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs
Instructions
- Mix together Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, liquid smoke, and molasses in a resealable plastic bag until the molasses has dissolved. Add sesame seeds, brown sugar, paprika, garlic salt, garlic pepper, minced garlic, and canola oil; mix well. Coat chicken thighs with the marinade, seal, and marinate for 4 hours in the refrigerator, redistributing the chicken in the marinade occasionally.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
- Remove chicken from marinade and shake off excess. Grill on preheated grill until the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (75 degrees C), and is firm and opaque, about 12 minutes per side. Discard any remaining marinade.

Amazing! All the perfect ingredients. This is a keeper and on the grill often.
This is my go to chicken thigh marinade for years. Alway a hit at gatherings and has never failed in someone asking for the recipe.
We love this recipe for chicken thighs. I have made it a number of times and the flavor is so good. It does not have the same profile for white meat, but the thighs are so yummy!
Really great recipe, the chicken was moist and tender. Definitely will make it again and again.
I made this recipe to the T and the entire family loved it!
Next time I’ll go lighter on liquid smoke, though I did marinate overnight. I baked @ 400F since it’s beyond BBQ season here and it was yummy. Easy to put together and freezes well.
Very very good marinade! I don’t use garlic salt or powder so I used minced garlic and added salt. Perfect I wouldn’t change a thing!
This was a nice change from BBQ sauce. Even so, it seemed to need some extra spices, the next time I make it I will add more salt, pepper, paprika, etc.
Best chicken thigh marinade we’ve tasted yet! We’re fortunate enough to be friends with folks who raise chickens (literally 3 houses down!), and they had a ton to give us, so we got fat, juicy all natural chickens! I followed the recipe to a T, just had to remove the skins prior. Holy moly was all my family could say!
I’ve made this several times. Even though I keep increasing the number of pieces of chicken, there are never any leftovers for next day lunch!
Got rave reviews from my guests.

Favorite chicken recipe. Always a go to and share recipe everytime I make it for a party. So much flavor
My “particular” husband loved this. I thought it was superb also. I forgot the sesame seeds but it was terrific.
I made it for my wife’s birthday dinner. I used chicken breast instead but I think it would be great on every part of a chicken.
Absolutely delicious. I made this low carb by using G Hughes teriyaki sauce, swerve brown sugar, and yacon syrup in place of the molasses.
Excellent recipe for summer grilling. The whole family enjoyed the sweet tangy flavor. I was out of liquid smoke but it wasn’t missed. Grilling gave it some great crispy edges and smokey flavor. My new favorite way to serve thighs. Thank you!
This recipe is so amazing, my kids ate everything!! No leftovers for us. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
This was really good, a recipe I will definitely make again. I didn’t have teriyaki sauce so I substituted Hoisin sauce. This is tasty, easy to make and the chicken stays moist. Thanks for a good recipe.
This was very flavorful. I subbed honey for the molasses and just used garlic powder. I marinated over 24 hours. Would definitely make again!
