Instant Cheesy Mash

While dehydrated mashed potatoes are no substitute for real mash that you make from scratch, you can doctor them up and make a super speedy side dish to serve with a whole range of meals.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups instant potatoes
  2. 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  3. 2 teaspoons onion powder
  4. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  5. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  6. 1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar
  7. 1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
  8. 2 tablespoons salted butter

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from the heat and stir in the instant potatoes, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and cheese. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until the cheese is melted. Transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle the chives over the top and add a pat of butter. Serve hot.

I used the premade mashed potatoes Sam’s Warehouse sells and with Ree’s seasonings and the cheese it tastes great. I always look for a way to better the Sam’s mashed potatoes and this was perfect.
