Yield: 1 margarita

Ingredients

  1. 3 tablespoons blanco tequila
  2. 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice plus 1 lime, cut into wedges
  3. 1 tablespoon amber agave
  4. 1 tablespoon triple sec
  5. 1 cup ice
  6. 1/4 fresh avocado, peeled (about 1/4 cup)
  7. Coarse salt, for rimming glass

Instructions

  1. Add the tequila, lime juice, agave, triple sec and ice to a high-power blender. Blend until the ice is crushed and the mixture is homogeneous, about 20 seconds. Add the avocado and barely blend, about 10 seconds more. The mixture will be smooth and pourable. (Be sure not to overblend, because the mixture will become too thick.)
  2. Use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of the glass. Dip the rim into the coarse salt. Pour the margarita into the glass and garnish with another lime wedge.

Used to get these all the time in Austin but since I moved I’ve been missing them! This was a wonderful trip down memory lane! Thanks!

We make this all the time – key to use a yummy ripe avocado- it really creates a nice texture and balances the acidity.

Loved this! The avocado added a nice creaminess! Delicious.

This was delicious until I added the avocado. The texture was not good and neither was the taste.  As the frozen Margarita started to thaw it was even worse.
