Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 pints fresh blackberries
  2. 1/4 cup sugar
  3. Juice of 1/2 lime
  4. 2 cups sugar
  5. Zest of 3 limes
  6. 1 lime wedge
  7. 2 cups tequila
  8. 1/2 cup triple sec
  9. 1/2 cup sugar
  10. 2 limes
  11. Ice

Instructions

  1. For the puree: Add the blackberries to a medium saucepan with the sugar and lime juice. Cook over low heat, covered, 20 to 25 minutes. Strain using a fine mesh strainer, pressing the berries to extract as much juice/puree as possible. Place in the fridge to cool completely.
  2. For the lime sugar: Mix together the sugar and lime zest. Use a piece of lime to moisten the rim of each margarita glass, and then dip in the lime sugar.
  3. For the margaritas: In a blender, add 1 cup of the tequila, 1/4 cup of the triple sec, 1/4 cup of the sugar, and the juice of 1 lime. Fill the blender with ice and blend until smooth. Then add as much blackberry puree as desired, 1/3 to 1/2 cup. Pour into 4 rimmed glasses and serve immediately. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients for the other 4 glasses.

Why are these so good? These are the best margaritas ever. I had to add a little water because the alcohol was a little too off-the-charts for me. Crowd favorite though. Did this make any sense? I’ve had two of these. Lol

Dying to try this!  Can you substitute Slenda for sugar?  Diabetics like margaritas, too–ESPECIALLY BLACKBERRY!

I used the juice from a whole lime and also zest the lime in with the blackberries. Then I added a scoop of frozen limeade or so and ice,   I used pink himalayan sea salt on the rim. Garnish with a slice of lime and a blackberry.

Warning: Deliciously strong.

Yummy!  My guests eyes went wide with first sip of the really great blackberry flavor…I did reduce just a little of the tequila and replaced with cassis…drink is a gorgeous color (Christmas drink?) and the lime sugar really enhanced the total flavors.

Wonderful. Not too sweet.

Yummy tasting but you may want to watch the amount of tequila if you have a lower tolerance for alcohol. I made two servings because there was just my husband and myself. I took the recipe for 4 and cut in half. That meant the individual serving was 1/4 cup of tequila (4oz) and the Triple Sec was 1 Table (1 oz). I fell asleep immediately after dinner. While I typically have a glass of wine for dinner this was overkill for me. Next time I make it I will cut back the tequila to 2 oz. per serving.

If I could give these more than 5 stars, I definitely would!! They were pretty easy to make and they made exactly the servings that the recipe stated. I made these for my husband and we liked them so much that I made them for a family party a few nights later. Thanks, Ree, for the great recipe. I will make these again and again.

I made these for a girls night. They were absolutely delicious. I made them exactly as the recipe stated except I didn’t need that much sugar to rim the glasses. If you like blackberries and pretty frozen drinks, this one is definitely worth the effort.

I always thought I didn’t like margaritas; thought tequila was too “sour” for me. Oh brother, did this drink prove me wrong! I seriously think I could have plowed through the batch all on my own. Fortunately, I didn’t have to! Our friends thought they were marvelous, too. Just the PERFECT cocktail. Thank-you, Ree!
