Why sour cream? I skipped it.
The recipe calls for too much sour cream! I used half the amount and it still had an sour tang to it. Too bland and boring. Spaghetti casserole should remind you of lasagna. It reminded us of canned spaghetti and for us, it’s a “one-n-done”
Read reviews made as directed only 1 lb and 1 can of sauce. Added the itialian seasoning and garlic as suggested. Still found it a bit bland. However it wasn’t dry like other attemps with spaghetti casseroles. Maybe it needs to be the full receipe to gain the flavor.
Excellent. All 3 grandsons liked it. Only had the boys and made my white roaster full. Wouldn’t have been enough for all five of them. Used 1 lb of ground beef and one jar of pasta sauce plus one small can of tomato sauce plus the sour cream. Added extra spices as well.
Delicious! Although I did cut ingredients in half except for the cheese. Added salt, pepper, garlic powder and basil to the ground beef. Absolutely tasty!
Guess we just don’t care for sour cream in our spaghetti. Glad I tried it. It was a simple recipe.
The sour cream gave this recipe a unique, and pleasant flavor. The house smelled great while it was baking. I cut the recipe in half as it was way to much for two people. I also used Ziti instead of spaghetti. It ended up being like a baked ziti, or lasagna casserole. We will make this again.
I am making it for Dinner tonight. Have yet to put it in the oven. However i used frozen sausage (the ones in the pound chubs) and that works just as well as hamburger. So either one. I also instead of pasta sauce. I am using tomato sauce. AGAIN tasting good so far. Can’t wait to put it in the oven after it is put together and for the finished product. Also for the cheese i am using a colby jack mix and that works good as well.
Easy and good.
I used shredded Italian five cheese, mozzarella and sour cream flavored with onion and chive by Vermont Creamery. I combined ground beef with ground pork as well. Family loved it.
I haven’t actually made this yet, but it sounds intriguing enough to try. I can’t eat spaghetti, so wondering if you could use Miracle Noodles in this recipe. I’m not sure what additional baking would do to the noodles since they are made of konjac flour. But, as one reviewer said of using spaghetti, she just tossed it all back into the pot and finished there. Anyone willing to try? Also, Miracle Noodles would make this a keto dish. Interesting!
This is the recipe everyone wants for their birthday instead of going out to eat!!! A+++
Similar to my Mom’s recipe, I passed on onions, sour cream, mozzarella, and just used a lot of cheddar shredded cheese. Still super tasty. Also didn’t mix pasta and sauce/beef in pan, but put pasta in baking dish on bottom and put sauce/beef on top and covered with cheese.
I made a low-carb version of this using ZOODLES and it was very delicious! The sour cream really adds a nice creaminess to the dish. Yum!
Now a family favorite meal! Easy and delicious!
I added chopped green peppers and garlic. On the top I cut frozen Italian meatballs in half

This was very good! I had to make a few changes due to what I had on hand. Instead of spaghetti, I used a 16oz box of Rigatoni, only 1 jar of sauce and 8oz sour cream. Turned out perfect!
I made this for my family and they loved it. I added some garlic and Italian seasoning.
I just made this last night. I made a few mods and added a lot of spice to it. I added 1 full onion and I could barely taste anything, so for those that like onion, I would probably suggest 2 or even 3 onions. I also added lots of onion powder, Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Oregano, and a good bit of salt and pepper and a lot more cheese. Without this, I agree with others that its going to turn out pretty bland. With the additions, I liked the recipe a lot. Way better than regular spaghetti. Next time, I will also substitute at least half of the hamburger, or even all of it, for some Italian sausage.
This was good. I did make a couple changes. 1. I added fresh minced garlic and fresh tomatoes to my meat. 2. I added meatballs 3.I added asiago and pecorino cheese 4. I added mushrooms I also like my cheese a little crisp so after baking I used my broiler on low to crisp the cheese a bit. I had nothing left of this meal.
