Risk It On Brisket

  4.7 – 18 reviews

This packed bread with cheese is crispy on the outside and chewy and very cheesy inside, just like Domino’s, but beware – it’s really dangerous since it’s impossible to resist! I have been looking for a recipe that is similar since I discovered this bread at Domino’s. This is the result of some trial and error, and it’s pretty darn close! Additionally, if I develop a late-night hunger while my toddler is sound asleep, I won’t have to spend $12 on food, delivery, and tip. Marinara sauce is recommended.

Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ cups ketchup
  2. 1 cup ginger ale
  3. 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  4. 1 cup brown sugar
  5. ¼ cup red wine
  6. 1 (3 pound) beef brisket (first cut, or lean flat portion)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. Mix together the ketchup, ginger ale, dry onion soup mix, brown sugar, and red wine in a bowl, and stir until the brown sugar dissolves. Place the brisket into a disposable aluminum pan, and pour sauce over the brisket. Seal the pan with a cover of aluminum foil.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until the meat is very tender, about 4 hours.
  4. Tip: Make the brisket ahead of time, and chill in refrigerator. Slice the meat when cold, and put it back into the sauce for later reheating.

Better than the restaurants! Made a day ahead and reheated when needed. Not even a scrap of leftovers.

It’s got a good sauce, but this would do better in a slow cooker. The meat is a little dry, and does not fall apart very easily. Furthermore, they don’t tell you that you should use a disposable pan because all the sugar is going to burn and will be a black mess as soon as you take the pan out of the oven.

I made a 3.5 lb cut over the fire while camping and people loved it. It got to 200 internal fairy quickly- an hour? Then I let it bake, keeping the pan bake temp under 215. I used two foil pans for extra durability. Let it go for 6 hours then broke it up with a spatula- it was so tender. Flipped once and at the end, the bottom was just starting to char. Served on Hawaiian rolls. Kids want me to make at home now.

I have never posted a review here, but this recipe deserves it! PHENOMENAL recipe! I have tried a few other brisket recipes that were just…ok. THIS one is delicious, easy, sooooo flavorful! I can’t wait to make it again for my son snd his girlfriend this weekend! After reading the other reviews, I decided to add minced garlic and liquid smoke. It turned out amazing!!!! Easy. Delicious. I highly, highly recommend!

This is a fabulous recipe. I had to alter the cooking time a bit at 5 1/2 hours for a nearly 6# Brisket.

Followed the recipe to a tee and it was excellent!

I wish I could have cut more of the fat off. I think that changed the flavor. The sauce was great with the brisket once I drained off the fat. I wish I cut the cooking time down so it would have been a little pink.

My family really liked this and gave it a 4.3 star! My husband is gluten free, so I couldn’t use the lipton onion soup mix, so I used a recipe to make my own. Used a 3+ Lb Brisket and cooked it for 4.5 hours. Their only complaint was it was missing a smokey flavor.

Great recipe! Brisket is pricy at $9 a pound but we got four dinners out of it.

Great recipe! I’m so glad I “risked it”! The only thing I added was about a tablespoon of minced garlic and I also marinated over night. Awesome!

Excellent. Added an onion and a few cloves of garlic. Gone in a day.
