Yield: 12 sandwiches

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1/8-inch strips
  2. 1 pinch meat tenderizer
  3. 1 splash olive oil
  4. 1 onion, thinly sliced
  5. ½ cup minced bell pepper
  6. 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or to taste
  7. ground black pepper to taste
  8. 2 cups canned sliced mushrooms
  9. 1 (12 count) package Hawaiian-style dinner rolls, sliced in half
  10. 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler. Mix steak and meat tenderizer together in a bowl.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper; cook and stir until slightly softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in steak mixture; cook and stir until flavors combine, about 3 minutes. Mix in Italian seasoning and pepper; add mushrooms. Cook and stir until steak is mostly browned, about 3 minutes.
  3. Spoon steak mixture onto lower half of dinner rolls until covered; top with provolone cheese. Place onto a baking sheet.
  4. Broil in the preheated oven until cheese is melted, 1 to 3 minutes; remove from broiler. Place dinner roll tops onto melted provolone cheese; broil until tops are toasted, 1 to 2 minutes.

I recommend using a generous amount of steak sauce. As well as seasoning your veggies for extra flavor

Good, but needs salt or a salty seasoning like Worcestershire sauce.

This easy recipe was right on the mark. Made it for Saturday dinner….had two of them and it hit the spot! I did add more seasoning….but other than that..great recipe…will make again!

Would pair with an au jus.
Amber Dunn
Made it as directed and thought it was good but missing something. Next time will add worcestershire sauce like in some other reviews.

I followed the recipe exactly, and I will make this again with two adjustments. First, keeping all the meat and veggies on little slider buns is difficult, so I will probably use full size hoagie buns in the future. Second, I won’t use Italian seasoning the next time I make this. I will just use salt and pepper to taste.

These sliders are delicious! I used sliced fresh mushrooms instead of canned, added after the steak strips. The sweet buns were nice to balance the flavors of the peppers. We will make this recipe again!

Pretty good sandwich!!. Went light on the Italian seasoning and added Southwest chipotle sauce.
Erik Johnson
These were very good. Next time I will leave out the Italian seasoning….weird spice to have in this recipe.
Sharon Landry
it was fantastic

Thumbs up.

We LOVED these! Keep an eye on them in under the broiler, tho, as they will burn quickly. These could use a little condiment like mayo or Italian dressing or something, but that’s an easy fix. A keeper~YUM! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
